Except when there is not enough acetic acid to react with all of the sodium
bicarbonate, the amount of carbon dioxide that is produced will increase
proportionally with the amount of sodium bicarbonate that is used. Dependant
Variable:
The volume of carbon dioxide gas produced by the reaction. Independent Variable:
The amount of sodium bicarbonate used in the reaction. Control:
The amount of acetic acid used in the reaction.
Materials: sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) acetic acid (vinegar) scale or balance
large beaker (at least 1000 mL) erlenmeyer flask with one hole cork and rubber and
glass tubing (rubber tube at least 2ft) a clip to close of the rubber tube large flat
bottomed bowl (at least 1000 mL) wide pan wide drinking straw
Procedure:
Part 1: First, cut the drinking straw so that is is as long as the large beaker is tall.
Then insert one end of the rubber tubing through it. Take the large bowl and fill it
with water and then set it in the wide pan. Then take the large beaker, turn it upside
down, hold the straw with the tube up inside the beaker, and set the beaker into the
bowl of water. Use the other end of the tube to evacuate all of the air. If the water in

Laughter In Russ s Blues By Willy Russell
Laughter is a dominant emotional response because of reasons such as the brawling
that Russ is provoked into. He does outrageous things such as threatening a minister
and causing him to fall and hurt himself. There are also silly arguments that provoke
laughter that happen throughout the play, such as one about what the capitals are of
different countries. Lastly, in the second act all the characters start talking/yelling at
once so that they just create useless noise, and even when at first politeness is taken
to an extreme, nothing gets done in the meeting of the couples.
This play fits into high comedy because it is constrained by social expectations, and
has important social commentary on racial divides and racism today versus in the past.
