CANTINADELVULTUREMillenarianTradition
Wine rich of history the
Aglianico. Greeks introduced
it in Lucania approximately
six or seven centuries
before Christ. Originally the
Aglianico was known with
its Greek name Ellanico
and it has been extolled
and cited by lots of famous
poets, historians and
kings and popes, such as
Horace, Polybius, Livy and
Charles D’Angiò. Its area of
production is represented
by surrounding lands of the
extinct volcano Vulture, in
the north of Basilicata. The
particular mixture between
climatic conditions and
volcanic coil, makes the
Aglianico wine unique and
inimitable.
The “Cantina del Vulture”
was founded in 1954 by 412
vine-growers. Our wine
production through the
years has been obtained by
grapes from vineyards of
our associates. they collect
the best Aglianico grapes
and transform them with
hard work, care and passion
in prestigious wines and
sparkling wines. So tradition,
technology and knowledge
are combined in order to
obtain the great “Aglianico
del Vulture D.O.C.” wine.
