- Bolla was founded in 1883 in a small town in Veronese, Italy and produced its first Amarone in 1950, establishing the Bolla brand in 1953.
- In 1967, Brown-Forman Corporation became Bolla's distributor in America and later purchased a stake in the brand, which it increased to full ownership in 2000 before selling back to an Italian group in 2009.
- Bolla is now considered a national institution representing Italian wine worldwide and produces several renowned wines from the Valpolicella and Soave regions including Amarone, Valpolicella Ripasso, Soave Classico, and Bardolino Chiaretto.
3. History has THE EYES of those who have lived, THE HEART of those who remember. In 1883 Abele Bolla founded the cellar in a little town in the Veronese. The first Amarone, vintage 1950, and the Bolla brand came into being in 1953 . This was the beginning of an era of successes at international level. In 1967 the multinational Brown-Forman Corporation became the Bolla distributor for the American market and, four years later, purchased 40% of the brand: this would be raised to 100% in 2000 . In 1989 Gambero Rosso defined Bolla as a “ National Oenological Institution ” and representative of Italian wine around the world. In 2006 Gruppo Italiano Vini bought the Pedemonte cellar and it became the distributor for the Italian market the following year. In 2009 Gruppo Italiano Vini bought 100% of the brand from Brown-Forman and Bolla became Italian once again.

8. The Selections, form and content. Soave Bolla – 883 Symbol of history’s continuance. Bolla was founded in Soave in 1883 and is born again with this Soave Classico made from Garganega and Trebbiano di Soave grapes cultivated east of Verona where the medieval village of the same name rises, dominated by the Scaliger castle which embraces it whith its imposing walls . Valpolicella Classico Bolla – 883 The valley of the many cellars (polis, cellae). Corvina and Corvinone are used for this dark ruby red, a concentrate of elegance and charm. The story of a land and the expression of a style . Bardolino Classico Bolla – 883 This fresh fruity wine with modern youthful style springs from our Preella estate. An authentic and attractive wine. Bianco di Custoza Bolla – 883 The Garganega, Trebbiano and Cortese grapes endow this wine with a very marked mineral component. A simply wine which is full of interest at the same time. Bardolino Chiaretto Bolla – 883 Bardolino Chiaretto springs from the moraines of Lake Garda. This elegant wine is obtained in one night from the must while it is still Rosé, separating it from the fermentation of Bardolino. Le Poiane – Valpolicella Classico Sup. Ripasso A second, slow fermentation on the marc of Amarone, an enveloping flavour with a soft tannic underlay. Le Poiane, rapacious black typical of the area, because of its black-brown colour, evokes the world of the falconery and of the hunt. Le Tufaie Soave Tufaie, the old tuff quarries Verona was surrounded by. A Soave rich in the olfactory complexity typical of the grapes from the hillside vineyards it comes from.
9. In 1950, the grandchildren of the founder of the Pedemonte in Valpolicella cellar bottled his favourite wine to celebrate his 80th birthday. This was Amarone. That was the beginning of the commercial history of this wine. Launched for the first time by Bolla, it is renowned all over the world today. A wine with a really full body and long life, where the sweet flavours from the dried grapes marry the scents of spices resulting from ageing in wood for a period of about three years. 10. Recioto di Soave Only sparse, perfectly ripe and healthy bunches are collected manually in plateaux for over-ripening in the fruit shed. Soft pressing and slow fermentation on new barriques for over 4 months is followed by a period of “elevage sur-lies” with “bâtonnage” twice weekly. A long period of ageing in the bottle before marketing. A wine for dessert or for savouring on its own. Recioto della Valpolicella Very intense velvety red with violet reflections. Sweet but balanced by the acidity so that it leaves the mouth clean, full-bodied. The flavour is highly persistent with smoky features and scents of vanilla, spices and raisins. A wine for dessert or for savouring on its own. Prosecco Prosecco Bolla, a fresh, young and highly versatile wine obtained from Prosecco grapes (which will take the name of Glera) cultivated in the traditional production zone between Conegliano and Valdobbiadene. With a lovely bright straw-yellow colour and a fine and persistent froth. The taste is well-balanced by the acidity which exalts the freshness of the flavour and enhances its congeniality.

Amarone Classico An ageless legend as the Amarone name appeared in Italy for the first time in 1953, thanks to Bolla . Valpolicella Ripasso A Valpolicella Ripasso produced using particolar technique employed in the area from time immemorial. A wine with a velvety full-bodied taste . Valpolicella Classico This intense red, dry with particularly evident floral and fruity notes comes from the vineyards in the classic zone. Bardolino Classico A light, delicately fruity flavour wich perfectly interprets the nature of this interpellation. Soave Classico Garganega and Trebbiano di Soave grapes present this wine soft and round on the palate with the rediscovery of scents of pineapple and grapefruit in the nose.
12. Cabernet Sauvignon Ageing in oak barriques endows this Cabernet with a modern, soft and balanced taste. A bouquet of black pepper to the nose with liquorice and myrtle berries on the palate . Merlot delle Venezie IGT A full and well-structured wine with hints of ripe plums and cherries. A classic from the Veneto . Bardolino Chiaretto DOC The enormous mass of water of Lake Garda creates a special thermal effect for this wine’s grapes. With a coral pink colour, Bardolino Chiaretto Bolla has particular aromatic and freshness characteristics. Pinot Grigio d/Ven.
