This document discusses bridging the gap between designers and developers. It notes that designers and developers have different priorities, languages and approaches. The key issues are a lack of empathy, communication and collaboration between the roles. It recommends designers learn more about development processes and technologies. Likewise, developers should learn design principles and processes. Stronger collaboration is needed, such as designers joining wireframing sessions and developers contributing earlier. Tools like style guides, atomic design and project management platforms can also help bridge gaps. The overall message is both roles need to better understand each other to work as a cohesive team.

Delicious Design: The Intersection of User Experience Design and Visual DesignDesign for Context
Jennifer Chaffee and Rachel Sengers
Presentation at User Focus, the UXPA DC Chapter conference, Washington, D.C. – October 17, 2014
There are often questions related to managing the intersection between UX design and visual design. Common questions include: What are effective ways for the UX designer to convey interaction intention and visual design needs to the visual designer? What can the UX designer do to make the visual design process effective and efficient? What can the visual designer do to help the UX designer along the way? What level of design fidelity is appropriate inside wireframes? Led by a UX designer and a visual designer, this session explores these questions and provide practical ideas and recommendations for ensuring a smooth and effective collaboration between UX and visual design.

There is a well-known statement that brand isn't just a logo or a product. As well as brand identity isn't just a stationary set. It is much more. It includes every aspect of visual essence from the brand mark to all marketing materials, signage and interior.
This infographic presents the brand identity as a planet system with mission ("big idea") in its center and strategy on the last orbit. Every element should support brand story and nothing can step out of the brand positioning.

User Centered Design: guarantee that your business process automation project...Bonitasoft
Wide user acceptance is one of the biggest challenges companies face when launching a new project, product, or service. Any of these can fail for a variety of reasons, but failure is often due to a disappointing user experience.
The process of User Centered Design actively takes into account the needs, expectations, and characteristics of end users at each stage of the development process, leading ultimately to better user satisfaction.
The tools and processes manager of a large French automotive group recently noted, "You have to be user-centric to successfully digitize your processes." End users can feel, “This was actually designed with me in mind - my wants and needs were actually considered before a tool was imposed on me to use.”
From layout to delivery of the first iteration and through continuous improvement, learn how to use the Bonita UI Designer as an iteration tool to guarantee an ideal match with the actual needs of end users.

Building the first UX team in a global business is very exciting. But handling the resultant demand for the team's multidisciplinary skill set is challenging. I quickly realised that you cannot scale a team by hiring only. I needed to think differently. I needed to use Design Thinking to explore how might we share my team's resources with our primary users, software developers. We re-envisioned how we share our design resources. This innovation leads to the creation of cutting edge technical solutions, enabling developers to access and use the design resources in their development environments. Learn how we at McKesson's global UX design labs team used this strategy to invigorate our workflow and scale.
Key Takes:
Design Thinking works, don't be afraid to use it on yourself and your team.
Make the most of your design resources such as Design Systems and UX Writing Style guides.
Bring design resource to the users environment.
Scale your UX Design team with design thinking.

Elevating Tactical DDD Patterns Through Object CalisthenicsDorra BARTAGUIZ
After immersing yourself in the blue book and its red counterpart, attending DDD-focused conferences, and applying tactical patterns, you're left with a crucial question: How do I ensure my design is effective? Tactical patterns within Domain-Driven Design (DDD) serve as guiding principles for creating clear and manageable domain models. However, achieving success with these patterns requires additional guidance. Interestingly, we've observed that a set of constraints initially designed for training purposes remarkably aligns with effective pattern implementation, offering a more ‘mechanical’ approach. Let's explore together how Object Calisthenics can elevate the design of your tactical DDD patterns, offering concrete help for those venturing into DDD for the first time!

Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).
Speakers:
Bob Boule
Robert Boule is a technology enthusiast with PASSION for technology and making things work along with a knack for helping others understand how things work. He comes with around 20 years of solution engineering experience in application security, software continuous delivery, and SaaS platforms. He is known for his dynamic presentations in CI/CD and application security integrated in software delivery lifecycle.
Gopinath Rebala
Gopinath Rebala is the CTO of OpsMx, where he has overall responsibility for the machine learning and data processing architectures for Secure Software Delivery. Gopi also has a strong connection with our customers, leading design and architecture for strategic implementations. Gopi is a frequent speaker and well-known leader in continuous delivery and integrating security into software delivery.
