The black spider monkey lives in rainforests in small groups separated by about a mile. It moves through the trees by running on its two legs and two arms or swinging from branch to branch. When foraging for food, the monkeys split into smaller groups to hunt and may be threatened by birds of prey. Females start mating at age four after finding an adult male partner in their group.
