3. Genre:
These are the four lists of genres my idea was based around.
• Crime
• Thriller
• Action
• Prison
The intention was to focus on one of these main genres and decided to follow the Prison idea for the teaser trailer.
4. MES:
The Mise en Scene section was more complex.
The film poster showed here is from the film called The Next Three Days which is prison related, so I focused and primarily wanted
to continue down this route. The film poster has a conspiracy web on which is key to part of my teaser trailer idea as I was
thinking of having one in the trailer along with the poster which is in a different section of the diagram.
A prison room/cell has plain walls with a dull colour to it, along with dull lighting. The bed, stool and table are all dull colours,
along with the clothing which is unflattering. The dark red uniform was one of the prison clothing in the Next Three Days film.
If I decided to follow this route then I would have to find a place which has little lighting and bare walls in order to film. A simple
chair would be easy to find, while the clothing should be reasonable to find. Plain matching coloured clothes would work for any
prison location because it would be a makeshift prison.
The ‘basic furniture’ section is highlighted because it is useful for a different section to the spider diagram.
5. Conspiracy webs:
One of my ideas have conspiracy webs related to it. Typically these conspiracy webs would by on crime related films, matching
and connecting evidence together. They are basically made out of a huge map with circled locations and places on it, string and
pins to connect one location to another with photos and newspaper cutouts of evidence which would all link to one thing. I
believe a conspiracy web would be a great way to draw in a plot which would catch the audience’s eye.
If this ended up to be part of the teaser trailer, then the center and main key point within the web would be the death of the
mother along with the killer. All evidence and other things would expand and link to be apart of their relation to one another.
6. Shot types:
One of the key shot types that I loved from a film I watched (Far From The Madding Crowd) were these close ups shown on part of
the spider diagram. The camera here is handheld and moves from his lips to the side of his face. I like this idea and have been
considering using it if it comes to creating this type of teaser trailer. Similar shots like this would be shown on the main character,,
such as if they were fiddling with their hands, anxiously rubbing them against her legs, her feet tapping. Small movements which
would be shot while there is a conversation going on between the female main character and the psychiatrist/counselor.
7. Poster idea:
The final side to the spider diagram is the poster idea. After looking at other film posters and gathering ideas on how typical
prisons look and the crimal side to the genre of film I came up with a film poster idea.
The mention of the basic furniture from the MES section has been put into play here as I have used this on my quick put-together
poster.
The idea is to have a plain prison room with blank walls like the top picture at the bottom. This plain dark room would have a
single chair in it, one that is wooden, ragged and cheap looing. This chair would be placed facing the wall with the main female
character sat in it. She would be sat with her back to the camera, looking at the wall which would have a huge conspiracy web
stuck on the wall in front of her. The picture on the bottom is a rough idea of what it would look like. I gathered the three different
photos online and have put them together to make this brief poster. I thought this would be a good poster idea because it shows
parts of the genres, prison, crime, and a slight taste of action as this genre would typically include itself in these types of films.
