students can’t be fit in to the same.

Brain-based learning is an
interdisciplinary answer to the
question of, “what is the most
effective way of the brain’s learning
mechanism?”
 Brain-based learning is an
effective teaching technique that
represents abstract or complex
content matter in to simple and
meaningful scaffolds and
 it has the potential to delay the
learning platue since it provides
great scope for interaction among
and between students and
teacher.
Brain hemisphericity is the
tendency of an individual to process
information through the left
hemisphere or the right hemisphere
or in combination.
left hemisphere operates in a linear,
sequential manner with logical,
analytical, propositional thought.
right hemisphere operates in a
nonlinear, simultaneous fashion and
deals with non-verbal information as
well as dreams and fantasy.
A study of the effectiveness of
Brain- based Learning on the
comprehension of certain
educational psychology concepts,
the hemispheric dominance and
learning style preference among
teacher trainees.
There is no significant
relationship between Brain-based
learning and comprehension of
concepts of Educational
Psychology.
There is no significant
hemispheric dominance among
the student teachers.
There is no learning style
preference among the student
teachers.
There is no perceptional
difference among teacher trainees
on teaching methodologies.
The study was carried out on a
sample of 200 B.Ed students.
The methodology followed was
the pre-test, post test quasi-
experimental design type, viz.
O1 X O2 O3X O4 method was
used in the study. Here, O1 and
O3 are the pre-test scores; O2
and O4 are the post-test scores.
Out of the total sample 28% of the
students are right hemispheric
dominant students whereas 42% are
left hemispheric dominant students
and 30% of the students are with
integrated hemisphericity.
There are learning styles preferences
exist among the student teachers.
•accommodators
•assimilators
•convergers or
divergers
 The students with right hemispheric
dominance are divergers or
assimilators.
 The left hemispheric students are
mostly accommodators.
 The integrated hemispheric dominant
students are found to be
disproportionately accommodators,
assimilators i.e. they are more
compatible with different Learning
styles.
The teacher trainees rated the
teaching strategies
co-operative learning,
constructivist learning, and brain-
based learning as the most
interactive and effective
strategies.
Reframe teacher training programme
which should be attuned to their
brain characteristics and learning
styles.

Brain-based Learning

  • 4. A teacher has to devise the proper teaching strategy since the abilities of the children vary. So all the students can’t be fit in to the same. . THE GREATEST CHALLENGE BEFORE AN EXCELLENT TEACHER

  • 6. Jensen (1998), Brain-based learning is an interdisciplinary answer to the question of, “what is the most effective way of the brain’s learning mechanism?”
  • 7.  Brain-based learning is an effective teaching technique that represents abstract or complex content matter in to simple and meaningful scaffolds and  it has the potential to delay the learning platue since it provides great scope for interaction among and between students and teacher.
  • 8. Brain hemisphericity is the tendency of an individual to process information through the left hemisphere or the right hemisphere or in combination. left hemisphere operates in a linear, sequential manner with logical, analytical, propositional thought. right hemisphere operates in a nonlinear, simultaneous fashion and deals with non-verbal information as well as dreams and fantasy.
  • 9. A study of the effectiveness of Brain- based Learning on the comprehension of certain educational psychology concepts, the hemispheric dominance and learning style preference among teacher trainees.

  • 11. There is no significant relationship between Brain-based learning and comprehension of concepts of Educational Psychology. There is no significant hemispheric dominance among the student teachers.
  • 12. There is no learning style preference among the student teachers. There is no perceptional difference among teacher trainees on teaching methodologies.
  • 13. The study was carried out on a sample of 200 B.Ed students. The methodology followed was the pre-test, post test quasi- experimental design type, viz. O1 X O2 O3X O4 method was used in the study. Here, O1 and O3 are the pre-test scores; O2 and O4 are the post-test scores.

  • 15. Out of the total sample 28% of the students are right hemispheric dominant students whereas 42% are left hemispheric dominant students and 30% of the students are with integrated hemisphericity.
  • 16. There are learning styles preferences exist among the student teachers. •accommodators •assimilators •convergers or divergers
  • 17.  The students with right hemispheric dominance are divergers or assimilators.  The left hemispheric students are mostly accommodators.  The integrated hemispheric dominant students are found to be disproportionately accommodators, assimilators i.e. they are more compatible with different Learning styles.
  • 18. The teacher trainees rated the teaching strategies co-operative learning, constructivist learning, and brain- based learning as the most interactive and effective strategies.
  • 19. Reframe teacher training programme which should be attuned to their brain characteristics and learning styles.
