This document discusses the brain and memory retention. It provides examples of how much information is retained from viewing or listening to information over different time periods. The key points are:
- People retain about 27% of information presented in the first 10 minutes (prime time 1), but only 10% of information presented between 10-20 minutes (prime time 2). Retention drops to 8% for information presented between 20-80 minutes (down time).
- Retention is highest, around 90%, for information presented in prime time 1, and lowest, around 62% for information presented in down time.
- Most information is forgotten within the first 24 hours, according to the forgetting curve presented. Retention drops significantly
How Touchpoint Mapping® can help you increase acquisition, boost retention, and drive brand loyalty by moving more of the right customers closer to your organization.
The document provides 10 ways to change your brain for the better. It discusses intervening in three domains: the world, body, and mind. The mind offers the most influence, with changes that are always with you. Key physical interventions for the brain include providing a complete array of nutrients, optimizing serotonin levels, and increasing the GABA/glutamic acid ratio. Specific recommendations are given for supplements and lifestyle changes to achieve these goals, such as probiotics, eliminating allergens, magnesium, and vitamin B6.
What are the pros and cons of database marketing?Sameer Mathur
Database marketing is the process of using customer databases and other databases to build customer relationships through contacting customers, facilitating transactions, and targeting offers. It involves identifying prospects, deepening loyalty, reactivating past customers, and avoiding mistakes. However, database marketing requires large investments and may not be effective in situations where customers do not purchase frequently, there is little customer loyalty, product sales are very low value, information gathering is too expensive, or direct seller-buyer contact does not exist.
The document discusses customer touchpoint mapping and customer experience. It defines customer experience as a customer's perception of interactions with a company, measured by how their expectations compare to reality. The customer journey has three elements: the objective, interactions, and results. The touchpoint mapping process involves identifying products/services, building maps, defining pain/pleasure points, validating assumptions with customers, and creating action plans. It recommends talking to customers at various stages to address pain points and design better experiences.

What are pros and cons of database marketing?Sameer Mathur
This document discusses the pros and cons of database marketing and customer relationship management. It explains that a customer database is an organized collection of information about individual customers that is used to contact, transact with, and build relationships with customers. Maintaining such a database allows companies to identify prospects, target customers with special offers, deepen customer loyalty, reactivate past customers, and avoid mistakes. However, building and maintaining large customer databases requires significant investments, not all situations are conducive to database marketing, not all employees are customer-oriented, and assumptions may sometimes be incorrect.

Database marketing involves building and maintaining customer databases to contact customers, facilitate transactions, and build customer relationships. It requires a large investment and may not always yield accurate assumptions as customer situations and loyalty can change. Database marketing is less effective when products are one-time purchases, customers do not show loyalty, individual sales are small, information gathering is costly, or there is no direct contact between seller and buyer.
Change Your Mind, Change Your Business: How to Train Your Brain for Optimal S...Jonathan Jordan
This document discusses how to train the brain for optimal success. It explains that the brain can change itself through neuroplasticity. Chronic stress puts the brain into a "fight or flight" response that impacts mental clarity and problem-solving. Mindfulness practices like meditation can help detach from emotions and reduce stress by activating the parasympathetic nervous system. Both sides of the brain work best together, so goals should be created holistically using imagery before making logical plans. Multitasking is ineffective as the brain can only focus on one task at a time. Training the brain through mindfulness can enhance self-esteem, reduce anxiety, and improve emotion regulation and brain function.
The document discusses using the Touch Point Wheel model to map out and prioritize a company's brand and communication activities from the customer's perspective. It explains that the model places customer touchpoints across three stages: pre-purchase experience, purchase experience, and post-purchase experience. The workshop then has participants select high impact touchpoints to create alignment and action plans around improving specific touchpoints.
Customer experience improvement can—and does— drive bottom-line results. So how can we prove that making customers happier can make you and your shareholders happier too?
This document summarizes a study on sustained personal transformation. It discusses circumstances that can trigger intentional change in adulthood, pathways to transformation, outcomes of transformation, lessons learned, and implications for organizations. The study found that intentional change is triggered by a confluence of internal and external circumstances, and involves a lengthy process of reflection, risk-taking, and adapting to unfamiliar situations. Transformation results in changed identities and priorities. Organizations seeking transformation need to encourage creativity, community, and inner work to redefine their purpose and mission.

It defines customer perceived value as the benefits versus costs of an offering compared to alternatives. Total customer cost considers monetary and non-monetary costs. Delivering high customer value is important, as is monitoring attributes and benefits that customers value. Loyalty involves a commitment to rebuy despite potential switching. Total customer satisfaction depends on past experiences and expectations. Recovering customer goodwill requires swift resolution of complaints. Product quality impacts customer satisfaction and company profitability. Marketing must identify customer needs and requirements to ensure quality.
Despite the fact that some governments are taking behavioral science and its challenges to the model of the rational individual very seriously, most enterprises still haven’t changed the way they deploy technology. No wonder 85% of ECM implementations fail to live up to expectations. Can the insights shared by Kahneman and others shed some insight onto this dilemma? Can we increase success by rethinking our approach to enterprise software deployments based on an improved understanding of how people perceive their environment, are swayed by others, and choose to act?

Screen addiction can negatively impact mental and physical health, especially for children and teens. Excessive screen time is associated with issues like poor sleep, attention problems, depression, and unhealthy behaviors. While screens themselves are not inherently bad, certain design features can make technology addictive by exploiting human vulnerabilities and psychological needs. It is important to set limits on screen time, especially social media, and balance online activities with real-world social interaction. Recognizing potential issues and developing strategies to manage screen use can help promote digital well-being.

Overturning conventions in business
How insight into the way we think helps us to understand conventions in business and create Meaningful Change.
Abstract
Although we may believe our brain is processing information without prejudice, it actually does not. We can only see that what lies within the reach of our conscious brain and that which we actually perceive is the end result of sensory information colored with past experience. Sometimes even if we can see only a fraction of an image, the brain unconsciously fills in the blank spots. This conditioning usually works well in our favor but sometimes we can do without it. When we try to discontinue an addictive behavior for instance or when a situation at work demands a creative solution.
We have found that if a person knows how his brain processes information and if he learns how to recognize his own pre-conditioned response to a situation arising than he will be capable of breaking free from this mental frame. If you can define the box you’re in, you will be able to leap out of it. It’s what Bob Sutton, a Stanford professor calls Vuja dé, the direct opposite of Déjà vu. It’s when something that should be familiar is suddenly very different.
And unlearning mental habits is a discipline in business as well. It is called Meaningful change. When you’re trying to uncover a convention, you think about the most common reflexes, about the commonalities among you and your competition. And when you challenge and overturn those conventions your organization can become free from the past and lead into uncharted territory.
We will show you how to discover your mental habits and how they manifest themselves in businesses as well. This knowledge will help you to change the reflexes in your private life and also in business.
This document provides an overview of Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) and discusses how it can be used to change behaviors and achieve desired outcomes. It examines how people think, feel, communicate and build relationships. Key concepts discussed include setting goals, establishing rapport, using sensory acuity for feedback, and reprogramming beliefs and physiology through techniques like anchoring. The document also discusses strategies for eliciting a person's process for achieving different states and the role of physiology in changing feelings and health.
Human is an amateur; the monkey is an expert. How to stop trying to secure yo...Vlad Styran
The document discusses how to properly invest in software security. It argues that fully securing software is impossible and unnecessary, and that the optimal approach is to find and fix bugs through practices like threat modeling, developer training, security testing, and bug bounties. The key is to train developers to write code that minimizes bugs and to have skilled hackers find and help remediate any issues.
Call it size-up, assessment or situational awareness; the ability to perceive and interpret information is critical for managing any emergency incident. But when does focused concentration turn into tunnel vision? Sometimes the training and experience that we rely on to do our job can make us perceive and even recall events very differently than they actually are, sometimes with disastrous results. Using a step-by-step approach, this program discusses how to develop the ability to better direct attention to critical cues without losing sight of additional information vital to the emergency.
Teaching Formats:
-Lecture
-Interactive Role Play
-Question and Answer
Learning Objectives: Students will learn:
-Both the importance and the danger of focus and attention to detail in emergency services.
-How to manage distracters and minimize the impact that they have on our attention.
-How we overestimate our ability to perceive, process and recall information, especially during emergency operations.
-How preparation and training can impact what we think we see and hear on calls, both positively and negatively.

This document provides an overview of basic brain anatomy and functions. It is divided into multiple parts. Part 1 discusses the early development of the human embryo's brain within the first 6 weeks. It also covers the basic units of the brain - neurons and synapses. Additionally, it compares the size of human and animal brains. The brain is described as having three main parts: the reptilian brain for instinct, the limbic system for emotion, and the neocortex for higher-level thought. The reptilian brain and limbic system are the evolutionarily older parts of the brain. The document notes that part 2 will provide more details on brain functioning.
