Extension task
Use this PPE technique in your essay for the EFFECTS and RESPONSES of your chosen case study.
Think about using quotes from people directly involved in the flooding.
Assessment exercise
Imagine you are a reporter for a newspaper. Your task is to report on flooding in the UK using
the PPE framework. You can focus on a particular place or wider region.
Use the following questions to structure your report:
1. Where is the flood? You should include location maps.
2. What are the causes of the floods? You should include keywords covered in class.
3. What are the effects of the floods? You should include annotated photographs / specific
case study detail / quotes from local people.
4. How have people responded to the flood? You should include local people, rescue
services and the Environment Agency.

Think about using quotes from people directly involved in the flooding. Assessment exercise Imagine you are a reporter for a newspaper. Your task is to report on flooding in the UK using the PPE framework. You can focus on a particular place or wider region. Use the following questions to structure your report: 1. Where is the flood? You should include location maps. 2. What are the causes of the floods? You should include keywords covered in class. 3. What are the effects of the floods? You should include annotated photographs / specific case study detail / quotes from local people. 4. How have people responded to the flood?
