You think it’s the best product ever built, you convince your co-founders and team to follow you on the path to success but what you start realising is that the road is bumpier than any other with unknowns at every corner.
In the tech space particularly, there is a lack of retrospect of what our predecessors have built and learning from their mistakes. In a market where success and billion-dollar exits and valuations are so celebrated, the majority end up in failure and hardly anyone talks about them. Join us to understand the learnings derived from failure and practices to put to track your startup’s health.

Conference talk at Plone Conference 2019 in Ferrara, Italy.
A traditional client-to-service provider work relationship is predicated on a hierarchy in which the needs and wishes of the client take precedence over all other considerations. In a rapidly paced work world under the increasing influence of accelerated technological change, such a traditional approach can have detrimental effects on the wellbeing of employees. The question with which service providers today must grapple is: How can we maintain our customer focus and ensure continued customer satisfaction while at the same time protecting the wellbeing of our team members?
The concept of “New Work” offers several suggestions for how to reconcile these seemingly competing needs. New Work encompasses a wealth of theories and methods relating to the organization of work, from self-organization to agility and modern leadership, to new work spaces, among many others. In this talk, we focus on our experience with implementing one such concept.

Whether it is indeed the Zombie Apocalypse, a game changing technology, the end of a contract, or a revolutionary new language, all software engineers and organizations have to come to grips with one thing -- all software applications including our current high-priority project wielding the latest in technology will eventually meet an untimely end!
The answer to this doomsday scenario is of course Brainz! -- We must take control of our own professional development and shape our organizations into intrinsically motivated cultures. This double-barreled approach will ensure we can adapt to the next challenge!
Two CSM/CSPs and founders of the Agile for Defense meetup team up to present innovative techniques to ensure you and your organization are ready to adapt when future challenges arise. Examples such as gamifying your organization through a Professional Development Challenge, leveraging ship-it days to foster innovation, and making servant leadership the core of your organizational structure will provide proven methods for building a motivated, zombie-free culture. Unleash the intrinsic motivation of your Brainz -- don’t let the Zombies win!

It may come as a surprise to some that services designed to improve our quality of life often end up creating unintended suffering for users. While service design is intentional by nature, there are can be unintended consequences that have negative impacts on users.
Using systems thinking, we can apply an ethical rigor that moves beyond measuring the immediate impact of a system. Systemic design tools such as implication wheels, or Nancy Bocken’s value mapping wheel, can help us not only consider the second or third order impact of an innovation, but also allow us to see how value created for one group can destroy value for another.
The workshop intends to provide exercises that practitioners can easily integrate into their various workplace processes to enable teams to imagine and be aware of the impact of their unintended design intentions.

The third most important thing is to communicate to the rest of the team what needs to be done, to implement that strategy, to win in that market.
That's why we write requirements - to communicate what needs to be built, as part of an approach to meeting the needs of a market. The rules of writing requirements help us communicate more effectively when writing requirements. Pretty narrow scope, pretty powerful impact.

Unveiling the Secrets How Does Generative AI Work.pdfSam H
At its core, generative artificial intelligence relies on the concept of generative models, which serve as engines that churn out entirely new data resembling their training data. It is like a sculptor who has studied so many forms found in nature and then uses this knowledge to create sculptures from his imagination that have never been seen before anywhere else. If taken to cyberspace, gans work almost the same way.

Enterprise Excellence is Inclusive Excellence.pdfKaiNexus
Enterprise excellence and inclusive excellence are closely linked, and real-world challenges have shown that both are essential to the success of any organization. To achieve enterprise excellence, organizations must focus on improving their operations and processes while creating an inclusive environment that engages everyone. In this interactive session, the facilitator will highlight commonly established business practices and how they limit our ability to engage everyone every day. More importantly, though, participants will likely gain increased awareness of what we can do differently to maximize enterprise excellence through deliberate inclusion.
What is Enterprise Excellence?
Enterprise Excellence is a holistic approach that's aimed at achieving world-class performance across all aspects of the organization.
What might I learn?
A way to engage all in creating Inclusive Excellence. Lessons from the US military and their parallels to the story of Harry Potter. How belt systems and CI teams can destroy inclusive practices. How leadership language invites people to the party. There are three things leaders can do to engage everyone every day: maximizing psychological safety to create environments where folks learn, contribute, and challenge the status quo.
Who might benefit? Anyone and everyone leading folks from the shop floor to top floor.
