A book review analyzes and evaluates a book, including the author's argument and whether they are successful in conveying their main ideas. It goes beyond just summarizing the plot by including the reviewer's own opinion. A good book review answers questions about the book's central themes, characters, narrative, and strengths and weaknesses, and evaluates whether the author convinces the reader and knows enough about the topic. It should be written with authority and confidence, include examples and quotes from the text, and recommend whether others would find the book worthwhile.

Why I Write
Throughout my life I have written for many reasons. Some of these reasons were personal, intended only for myself, and others were meant to be read. It has meant different things to me at different stages of my life. As I look back on my childhood and adolescence, I realize that writing has been very important to my development as a person.
Barry Hannah has written, “I forget almost nothing.” I, on the other hand, feel as if I forget almost everything, especially when it comes to my childhood. I do not remember learning how to read or write. In fact, I do not remember much of anything during my elementary school years. However, I do remember receiving diaries and journals for Christmas or as birthday gifts. I probably went through at least five by the time I was ten. During the majority of my childhood, my diaries were mainly used to jot down what happened that day, as opposed to how I felt. However, that changed when I was given a diary with a small lock on it. Of course, as a young girl I had many thoughts that I wanted to keep private, like my mom was mean or my little brother was annoying. As I got a little older, my journal entries became more developed. For a teenage girl everything is so emotional and dramatic. Keeping a journal became about trying to make sense of my emotions and to control my racing mind long enough to put my thoughts on paper. My entries eventually became about my boyfriends. I wrote a lot about my first love. When we first started dating the majority of my journal entries were more like love letters. When he eventually broke up with me, the entries became full of my depressed thoughts. I wrote obsessively about him for months after our breakup. However, writing in my journal eventually became therapeutic and, in some ways, helped to mend my broken heart. I think that it is very important for adolescents, like Stephan Elliot, to write down their thoughts and feelings. Elliot wrote, “I was writing to communicate. I had all this emotion I couldn’t sort through.” Keeping a journal and writing poems or stories can all be very beneficial for young people. It can help to make sense of all of the emotional turmoil and clutter in their head.
After I graduated from high school and moved out of my parent’s house, I no longer kept journals. Writing was rarely something that I thought about. I was more preoccupied with hanging out with my friends than anything else. I was having such a great time that rarely felt the need to write. One day I came across a book that was written out of inspiration from the All American Rejects song, “My Dirty Little Secret”. The book consisted of pictures of random people holding up pieces of paper with their secrets written on them. For some reason I really liked the idea of creating a similar book filled with my own secrets. I made my book out of a binder filled with construction paper. It ended up being a book of rando ...

The Roman Empire A Historical Colossus.pdfkaushalkr1407
The Roman Empire, a vast and enduring power, stands as one of history's most remarkable civilizations, leaving an indelible imprint on the world. It emerged from the Roman Republic, transitioning into an imperial powerhouse under the leadership of Augustus Caesar in 27 BCE. This transformation marked the beginning of an era defined by unprecedented territorial expansion, architectural marvels, and profound cultural influence.
The empire's roots lie in the city of Rome, founded, according to legend, by Romulus in 753 BCE. Over centuries, Rome evolved from a small settlement to a formidable republic, characterized by a complex political system with elected officials and checks on power. However, internal strife, class conflicts, and military ambitions paved the way for the end of the Republic. Julius Caesar’s dictatorship and subsequent assassination in 44 BCE created a power vacuum, leading to a civil war. Octavian, later Augustus, emerged victorious, heralding the Roman Empire’s birth.
Under Augustus, the empire experienced the Pax Romana, a 200-year period of relative peace and stability. Augustus reformed the military, established efficient administrative systems, and initiated grand construction projects. The empire's borders expanded, encompassing territories from Britain to Egypt and from Spain to the Euphrates. Roman legions, renowned for their discipline and engineering prowess, secured and maintained these vast territories, building roads, fortifications, and cities that facilitated control and integration.
The Roman Empire’s society was hierarchical, with a rigid class system. At the top were the patricians, wealthy elites who held significant political power. Below them were the plebeians, free citizens with limited political influence, and the vast numbers of slaves who formed the backbone of the economy. The family unit was central, governed by the paterfamilias, the male head who held absolute authority.
Culturally, the Romans were eclectic, absorbing and adapting elements from the civilizations they encountered, particularly the Greeks. Roman art, literature, and philosophy reflected this synthesis, creating a rich cultural tapestry. Latin, the Roman language, became the lingua franca of the Western world, influencing numerous modern languages.
Roman architecture and engineering achievements were monumental. They perfected the arch, vault, and dome, constructing enduring structures like the Colosseum, Pantheon, and aqueducts. These engineering marvels not only showcased Roman ingenuity but also served practical purposes, from public entertainment to water supply.

Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. We all have good and bad thoughts from time to time and situation to situation. We are bombarded daily with spiraling thoughts(both negative and positive) creating all-consuming feel , making us difficult to manage with associated suffering. Good thoughts are like our Mob Signal (Positive thought) amidst noise(negative thought) in the atmosphere. Negative thoughts like noise outweigh positive thoughts. These thoughts often create unwanted confusion, trouble, stress and frustration in our mind as well as chaos in our physical world. Negative thoughts are also known as “distorted thinking”.

Let’s Roll by K H., Carmel, IN
Let’s Roll! Ordinary People, Extraordinary Courage is a biography written by Lisa Beamer with Ken Abraham.
Beamer’s husband, Todd, was one of the brave heroes on United Flight 93 on September 11, 2001. This is not
the typical 9/11 story, though. Already the mother of two boys, Lisa was pregnant when Todd died. Unlike
some Americans who dealt with the tragedy simply by despising the terrorists and seeking vengeance, Lisa
relied on her faith in God to help her through this horrific experience.
This memoir not only features the life of the Beamer family, it gives shocking details of all the events of that
day. Looking back, I never knew what actually happened. Now, after reading Let’s Roll!, I have deeper empathy
for those lost lives. This book has made me question my faith, and what my actions would be in a similar
situation.
You might be curious as to how the title of the book connects with the story. Throughout Todd’s life, “Let’s roll”
was his personal phrase. His sons knew when Daddy said “Let’s roll,” they better be ready to head out the
door. “Let’s roll” also happened to be Todd’s last words as he followed through with the plan to attack the
terrorists aboard his plane.
I read this book when a friend recommended it, and now I know why she did! You become addicted to it from
page one. Beamer uses language that is easy to comprehend yet creates vivid images. You too will return to
what you were doing in the moments the terrorists attacked.
All Americans could benefit from reading this book. Too many of us stay hooked on the past, yet Lisa is using
this tragedy as a way to move forward. This book taught me to always move on, yet never forget.
