ODS (Operational Deflection Shape) Analysis, When and Why?
ODS is a process of diagnosing rotating machinery, it may become unavoidable to do some structural vibration analysis as well. Most often this is done by performing ODS (Operating Deflection Shape Analysis) or Modal Analysis.
An operating deflection shape shows the deformation of a structure at a specific frequency or during a time waveform playback. ODS shows the response of a structure to both resonant and forced vibration, and is generally very representative of the real world data.
Once the model is complete, test data is collected at various points on the assembly using a dual channel analyzer. One probe (or an optical/laser tachometer) remains in place at all times while the other probe is moved from point to point. During the data collection process, care must be taken to ensure all data is collected on the right point and in the right direction. After all data has been collected, the software merges the data with the model and the resulting animation shows how the item moves.
Animations can show abnormal movement caused by looseness, weak and flexible structures, resonance, vane pass, excessive forces, operating loads and more. Animations will also show how components move with respect to each other, such as with misalignment. They also show how components move with respect to the structure to which they are attached (soft-foot, looseness, etc.).
How to review wps part 1 (mau company)

6. Check stresses in steel
7. Check effect on piping loads and stresses

Pre commissioning steam turbines load trial

- 4. 12/25/2023 ASNH 4 1. Feed pump It is used to deliver water to the boiler. A feed pump may be of centrifugal type or reciprocating type. But a double acting reciprocating pump is commonly used as a feed pump. The positive displacement reciprocating pumps are double acting pumps; which means that the liquid enters the boiler feed pump on either sides of the pump piston. Thus, when the piston moves up, suction is taken in the area below the piston and the liquid is drawn in.
- 5. 12/25/2023 ASNH 5 2. Super heater It is an important devices of a steam generating unit. Its purpose is to increase the temperature of saturated steam without raising its pressure. It is generally an integral part of a boiler and is places in the path of hot flue gases from the furnace. Advantages: 1. There is about 15-20% of coal saving 2. It increases the steam raising capacity of a boiler 3. Its prevents formation of scale in boiler water tubes, because the scale now formed in the economizer tubes, which can be cleaned easily.

Steam consumption of the engine is reduced. 2. Losses due to the condensation in the cylinders and steam pipes are reduced. 3. Efficiency of the steam plant is increased.

In the case of combustion of pulverized coal hot air can be used for drying the coal as well as for burning the coal efficiently 4. All standard fuels and even lower grades of coals can be burnt efficiently with hot air
