The document outlines the duties of a maintenance and production fitter which include planning and layout, assembly, fabrication by welding, quality control checks, training other workers, maintenance and repairs, investigating issues, and reporting. The role involves hands-on work with fittings, welding, assembly, disassembly, and commissioning of units from start to finish while advising on quality standards.
1. Fulfill the duties and tasks of a maintenance and production fitter (Supervision
done while working hands on as a maintenance and production fitter also doing
fabrication on own assignments)
Tutor and mentor the younger and unqualified workers on the shop floor
Planning and layout of systems at the preassembly phase in conjunction with the
fitters
Read and interpret schematic and general arrangement drawings
Complete final assembly job in conjunction with the fitters (hands on)
Prepare the unit for testing in in conjunction with the fitters (hands on)
Run and do preliminary checking of unit (full in-house commissioning)
Check that welding is visually acceptable
Check overall paint finish is to the required standard
Remedy any faults in in conjunction with the fitters (hands on)
Disassembly of unit and preparation of disassembled components for
delivery/dispatch
Fabrication of skids, pipe-systems (6mm-3”), steel, tanks, brackets, mountings,
frames, mining equipment (heavy duty), etc.
MIG, TIG, stick and gas welding (hands on)
(All done while working hands on with own assignments, breakdowns, installations and
maintenance)
Check correctness of overall system assembly
Do final checking of unit before full in-house commissioning
Advise on all faults that must be remedied before product final testing and signoff
Final sign off of quality control plans and product quality in conjunction and in the
presence of Customer Quality Inspector
Conduct investigations onrequest from Management

(By applying my experience in MIG, TIG, stick and gas welding)
Do planning and layout of systems at pre-assemblyphase
Ordering of material for my projects
Assemble pumps, bell housing, couplings and motors ranging from 0.25kw to 110kw
Complete assemblies inaccordance to the work instructions
Adhere to standard engineering practice for all assemblies
Assemble and fit differing types of components to the final assemblybuilds
Machine components
Prepare units for testing (Cold and hot commissioning)
Maintainsystems (Repairs and general maintenance fitting)
