The Blue Grass Chemical Agent-Destruction Pilot Plant project is on track. Construction is over 50% complete with 850 employees working safely. The neutralization and supercritical water oxidation destruction process will be used to destroy 523 tons of chemical agents stored in Kentucky. Buildings are being constructed for control/support, munitions demilitarization, supercritical water oxidation processing, and laboratories. Installation of structural steel, mechanical systems, and interior finishes is underway. When complete, the plant will safely destroy the chemical stockpile through neutralization and supercritical water oxidation.
