Bloom Energy was founded in 2001 by Dr. K.R. Sridhar to develop solid oxide fuel cell technology that can generate electricity on-site from natural gas or biogas in an environmentally friendly way. The company shipped its first commercial 100kW Energy Servers to Google in 2008. Bloom's Energy Servers use solid oxide fuel cells that convert fuel into electricity through an electrochemical process without combustion. Each server can provide enough power for 160 homes and offers benefits like clean energy generation, lower energy costs through efficiency, and reduced carbon emissions compared to the electric grid.
