The landscape architect designed an outdoor play space for twin girls in a small, sloped, wedge-shaped backyard in San Francisco. They created terraced concrete walls and planting beds to make better use of the space and add visual interest when viewed from above. Steps and a cantilevered bench incorporated the same materials as inside the house. The design included areas for the girls to climb, slide, and roll, with sounds of water integrated throughout.
