Absence of infirmity
Good physical condition
State of welfare
DEFINITION:
‘Health is state of complete physical, mental and
social well-being, and not merely the absence of disease or
infirmity’ (World Health Organization, 1946).

A person’s way of living
Way of living of an individual or group constituted
by:
• Habits (moral standards)
• Attitudes (economic level)
• Tastes (eating, diets, etc.)

6. INFLUENCE OF SMOKING AND
DRINKING IN HEALTH AND LIFESTYLE
• Generally, smoking and drinking have
negative effects for people’s health.
• ‘Drinking excessive amounts of alcohol and
smoking can both caused poor health, and
thus make living a healthy lifestyle difficult by
increasing the risk of several types of
diseases’ (Leah, 2011).
• Conclusion:
People who smoke or drink should stop it as it is
bad for health and it is not a good lifestyle!
