2. What is
biodiversity?
Biodiversity is the variety
and variability of life on Earth.
Biodiversity is typically a measure
of variation at the genetic, species,
and ecosystem level.
The word biodiversity comes from
the words ‘’bio’’ which means life
and ‘’diversity’’ which means variety
3. Species diversity
This is the most obvious form
of biodiversity. Its an
incredible variety of animals,
plants and micro-organisms
that live on earth. Species is
the largest group of
organisms in which two
individuals can reproduce.
4. How to measure
biodiversity
There are two ways to
measure biodiversity :
Wealth and relative
abundance
Wealth which is the
number of species in an
ecosystem and relative
abundance which is the
number of individual
species in that
ecosystem
5. Threats to biodiversity
Human destructions:
This mainly concludes the
deforestation of many tropical
areas making the area not
suitable for species. Also, many
hunters have been killing
animals illegally.
Climate change:
Climate change has been
one of the most serious
problems for biodiversity
change many lands and
species aren’t able to adapt
and going extinct.
6. How can we stop biodiversity loss
Indirect: These are
focused on reducing
the negative influences
like hunting and
reducing pollution for
climate change
Direct: This means to
protect natural areas
and keeping the
biodiversity secure
