Enterprises can survive digital disruption as well as grow revenue, improve profitability and increase market valuation — if they start rethinking what they do.
Digital transformation. It’s the use of technology to create a better customer experience, improve products and services, and increase the effectiveness of business operations. But it really means what your enterprise must do to adapt and thrive.
Today’s smaller, emerging companies are born digital. They can — and do — change quickly to answer consumer demand or a competitive offering. Larger, mature enterprises must start with a shift in strategy, because all industries will be changed or already have been changed by digital transformation. Many, like news media and publishers, music, video and retail have been or significantly disrupted. Up next: financial services, healthcare manufacturing, insurance, legal, education, utilities and energy. The good news? No industry has been or will be completely upended.
The first step is to recognize that disruption does not have to be a mass-extinction event. Enterprises can survive as well as grow revenue, improve profitability and increase market valuation. Here’s how to start rethinking what you do.
Digital Transformation - an introductionsimonbarna
When you commission a new digital solution, you'll change your business operation and strategy: this is digital transformation. Here's an overview of how to do it well.
The enterprise marketer's playbook: Building an integrated data strategy.
An integrated data strategy can help any business see customer journeys more clearly ― and then give customers more relevant ads and experiences that get results. So why doesn't everyone have such a strategy? We look at what sets the marketing leaders apart.
Let marketing data be your guide
If you've ever felt too swamped by data to find the customer insights you need, you're not alone. But there's a new and better approach to gaining deeper audience insights: building an integrated data strategy.
Read this report to learn how:
86% of senior executives agree that eliminating organizational silos is critical to expanding the use of data and analytics in decision-making.
75% of marketers agree that lack of education and training on data and analytics is the biggest barrier to more business decisions being made based on data insights.
Leading marketers are 59% more likely to use digital analytics to optimize the user experience in real time.
The numbers tell the story: 84% of C-suite executives believe they must leverage artificial intelligence (AI) to achieve their growth objectives, yet 76% report they struggle with how to scale. With the stakes higher than ever, what can we learn from companies that are successfully scaling AI, achieving nearly 3X the return on investments and an average 32% premium on key financial valuation metrics?
To answer that question, Accenture conducted a landmark global study involving 1,500 C-suite executives from organizations across 16 industries. The aim: Help companies progress on their AI journey, from one-off AI experimentation to gaining a robust organization-wide capability that acts as a source of competitive agility and growth.

How Changing Mobile Technology Is Changing The Way We Do Business Osaka University
2014 Feb How Changing Mobile Technology Is Changing The Way We Do Business
When the first mobile phones came out in sizes such as shoeboxes, people thought it was convenient, but not practical. Car phones came around the same time but weren't quite life changing yet. Then the phones got small enough for pockets and people in all walks of life started using mobile phones in various places. Undoubtedly, mobile phones have changed people lives.
In Feb, the C8 CEO Insights luncheon is pleased to welcome Dr. Minoru (Mick) Etoh. The Emergence of Digital and Social Media on Mobile PlatformsIpsos Vantis
This is a speech I gave at MIT Sloan’s MediaTech and MoMIT Executive Lunch Series on November 9th, 2008.
It covers the convergence of digital and social media on mobile platforms, gives an overview of popular social media platforms and their move onto mobile, highlights three app stores- Apple, Android, and BlackBerry, and highlights four companies doing innovative things in social media and mobile- WiseWindow (Orange County, CA), Localytics (Cambridge, MA), Hancock Energy Software (Framingham, MA), and TrustedOnes (Boston, MA).
It wraps with advice on seeking funding since many in the MIT Sloan audience are interested in entrepreneurial activities going forward.
Epistemic Interaction - tuning interfaces to provide information for AI supportAlan Dix
Paper presented at SYNERGY workshop at AVI 2024, Genoa, Italy. 3rd June 2024
https://alandix.com/academic/papers/synergy2024-epistemic/
As machine learning integrates deeper into human-computer interactions, the concept of epistemic interaction emerges, aiming to refine these interactions to enhance system adaptability. This approach encourages minor, intentional adjustments in user behaviour to enrich the data available for system learning. This paper introduces epistemic interaction within the context of human-system communication, illustrating how deliberate interaction design can improve system understanding and adaptation. Through concrete examples, we demonstrate the potential of epistemic interaction to significantly advance human-computer interaction by leveraging intuitive human communication strategies to inform system design and functionality, offering a novel pathway for enriching user-system engagements.
Securing your Kubernetes cluster_ a step-by-step guide to success !KatiaHIMEUR1
Today, after several years of existence, an extremely active community and an ultra-dynamic ecosystem, Kubernetes has established itself as the de facto standard in container orchestration. Thanks to a wide range of managed services, it has never been so easy to set up a ready-to-use Kubernetes cluster.
However, this ease of use means that the subject of security in Kubernetes is often left for later, or even neglected. This exposes companies to significant risks.
In this talk, I'll show you step-by-step how to secure your Kubernetes cluster for greater peace of mind and reliability.

Neuro-symbolic is not enough, we need neuro-*semantic*Frank van Harmelen
Neuro-symbolic (NeSy) AI is on the rise. However, simply machine learning on just any symbolic structure is not sufficient to really harvest the gains of NeSy. These will only be gained when the symbolic structures have an actual semantics. I give an operational definition of semantics as “predictable inference”.
All of this illustrated with link prediction over knowledge graphs, but the argument is general.
