This document discusses the facade design pattern. The facade pattern provides a simplified interface to a more complex subsystem. It decouples the subsystem from the client and makes the subsystem easier to use. A facade acts as a front-facing interface that hides the underlying complexities of the subsystem and delegates client requests to appropriate subsystem classes. This reduces dependencies between subsystems and promotes loose coupling. The facade pattern is useful for layering subsystems and simplifying access to them through a single interface.
UML component diagrams describe software components and their dependencies. A component represents a modular and replaceable unit with well-defined interfaces. Component diagrams show the organization and dependencies between components using interfaces, dependencies, ports, and connectors. They can show both the external view of a component's interfaces as well as its internal structure by nesting other components or classes.
This document outlines the key setup steps required to implement the purchasing module in Oracle R12 Apps. There are 25 setup steps described including defining organizations, items, calendars, flexifields, approvals, suppliers, and various options. The state pattern allows an object to change its behavior when its internal state changes. The context maintains a reference to a state object that defines the current state. Concrete state subclasses implement specific behaviors for each of the context's possible states. The state pattern is commonly used in game development where objects like characters can have multiple states like idle, running, jumping etc. that trigger different behaviors.
Object-oriented analysis and design (OOAD) uses visual modeling techniques like the Unified Modeling Language (UML) to analyze and design systems based on interacting objects. UML captures system elements and facilitates specification and visualization. It includes static diagrams for non-changing characteristics and dynamic diagrams for changing behaviors. The goal of OOAD and UML is to integrate analysis and development teams through defined processes and modeling.

Oracle Inventory - Difference between Cycle Count and Physical Inventory Boopathy CS
Cycle counts can be performed selectively on specific high-value items multiple times per year, with scheduled counting and the ability to view quantities in the system during counting. Physical inventories must count all items once or twice per year, do not allow scheduling or viewing quantities during counting, require transaction freezing, and use concurrent programs to process approved adjustments instead of a recounting history. The key differences are that cycle counts are more flexible but only for some items, while physical inventories provide a full snapshot of all inventory but are less frequent and involve more restrictive counting and adjustment processes.

Observability Concepts EVERY Developer Should Know -- DeveloperWeek Europe.pdfPaige Cruz
Monitoring and observability aren’t traditionally found in software curriculums and many of us cobble this knowledge together from whatever vendor or ecosystem we were first introduced to and whatever is a part of your current company’s observability stack.
While the dev and ops silo continues to crumble….many organizations still relegate monitoring & observability as the purview of ops, infra and SRE teams. This is a mistake - achieving a highly observable system requires collaboration up and down the stack.
I, a former op, would like to extend an invitation to all application developers to join the observability party will share these foundational concepts to build on:

zkStudyClub - Reef: Fast Succinct Non-Interactive Zero-Knowledge Regex ProofsAlex Pruden
This paper presents Reef, a system for generating publicly verifiable succinct non-interactive zero-knowledge proofs that a committed document matches or does not match a regular expression. We describe applications such as proving the strength of passwords, the provenance of email despite redactions, the validity of oblivious DNS queries, and the existence of mutations in DNA. Reef supports the Perl Compatible Regular Expression syntax, including wildcards, alternation, ranges, capture groups, Kleene star, negations, and lookarounds. Reef introduces a new type of automata, Skipping Alternating Finite Automata (SAFA), that skips irrelevant parts of a document when producing proofs without undermining soundness, and instantiates SAFA with a lookup argument. Our experimental evaluation confirms that Reef can generate proofs for documents with 32M characters; the proofs are small and cheap to verify (under a second).
