First Aid/CPR Classes—Carolinas Region Office
Project Engineer, Joe Smith,
is leading the Branch
Highways team at the new
Lennar Homes, townhome
development in Cary, North
Carolina. Construction
began on this $2.2 million
project during the last week
of September and has an
expected completion date of
early June 2017.
Branch will be providing the
site development services
for the 35 acre parcel. So far
work has included building a
temporary stream crossing,
placing a large construction
entrance, silt fence installation
and beginning clearing
operations.

PROJECT WINS NEW EMPLOYEES
William comes to Branch Highways from
Charah, Inc. and brings over 18 years of
experience and knowledge in highways,
railroads, landfills, large site developments
and much more. He began at the Trilogy at
Brier Creek project and is currently working
on the Alamance Community College project.

SAFETY CORNER
The Carolinas Region office was happy to host David
Scott, Safety Representative with The Branch Group for
two days of First Aid/CPR classes in August. He was
able to get 20 field and office employees certified, making
Branch Highways OSHA compliant and in line with
company policies.
Josiah “Joe” Smith, Project Engineer
John Dailey brings 19 years of experience to
Branch Highways. Recently working for Tetra
Tech, John is working as a Pipe Foreman
at the Wake Tech project. He recently
began pursuing his degree in construction
management.

Previously working as a Field Engineer for
Flatiron Construction in Myrtle Beach, SC, Eric
joins Branch Highways as a Project Engineer.
He has a B.S. in Construction Management
from Western Carolina University and will
be working on the Phillips Place and Trilogy
projects.

Project Engineer
Dustin has worked as a Field Engineer
for Branch Highways for 3 years, but has
recently joined the Carolinas Region as a
Take-off Engineer. He is currently in school
for Business Management at New River
Community College.

Branch Highways is providing the site
work services for this 25 acre, 190
townhome development in Durham, North
Carolina. The $1.7 million project is owned
by Lennar Homes and has an anticipated
completion date of December 1, 2016.
• The entire site has been cleared and
grubbed, mulching of the trees, rock
drilling and blasting were recently
completed.
• The rough grading is anticipated to be
complete by the end of November.
TRILOGY AT BRIER CREEK ALAMANCE COMMUNITY
COLLEGE
Branch Highways continues construction
on the 1.3 mile, $11.4 million project in
Rockingham, NC. With an anticipated
completion date of September 2017, the
contract work consists of a 145 FT bridge
structure, 563,000 CY of earthwork, 2,700
LF of storm drain and 63,000 TNS of
asphalt.
NCDOT is currently in the process of
awarding Branch another portion of the
project. When this section is complete,
traffic will be switched over to the new
bridge in June 2017, to allow the north
bound section of the project to be
completed.
NCDOT, US-220 FUTURE I-73 AT
NC 68
Led by Superintendent William Bright,
Branch Highways is providing the early
site work package for this 6 acre site
that will house a single story, 55,000 SF
Advanced Applied Technology Center on
the campus in Graham, NC.
• The building pad is done, along with
80% of the storm drainage and 50%
of the waterline construction and
sanitary sewer.
• After all utilities and earthwork are
complete, they will place the stone
sub-base, concrete curb and gutter,
and pave the binder course.
This $1.3 million, NCDOT project is located
in Lenoir, NC and led by Project Engineer,
Mike Robic. Branch Highways is providing
grading, drainage, erosion control and is
placing aggregate base to widen the 2.4
mile road that provides a shortcut to the
highway on the other side of Grandfather
Mountain.
70% of the earthwork and 75% of the
new drainage installation are finished.
Once the base stone is done, one half of
the project will be released to NCDOT for
completion.

REGION NEWS PROJECT UPDATES
For the NCDOT, US-220 Future I-73 at
NC 68 project in Rockingham County,
Branch Highways has implemented
efficiences resulting in cost savings.

Jane Brasier, Director of Business
Development, moderated the SMPS
(Society of Marketing Professional
Services) panel - Growing the
Triangle Economy, at their October
meeting. She led the panel of
economic specialists in a discussion
on how the economy has recently
impacted each of their climates, the
current state of the North Carolina
economy, and what the A/E/C
industry can expect to see in the near
future.
The Carolinas Region was pleased to
donate items needed by the victims
of Hurricane Matthew.
