Project Description:
The project included the demolition of three buildings on County acquired properties located on
Columbia Pike, adjacent to Bailey’s Crossroads. The total site area is approximately 3 acres. The
Landmark Building was a six-story, 46,000 SF mid-rise office building. The two other single story
structures included were a former 3,050 SF restaurant and a 3,500 SF auto repair shop. All hazmat
materials were abated and approximately 80% of the construction debris from all three structures was
diverted from the construction waste stream to the recycling stream.
The site of these demolished buildings will now be re-developed as an interim park use by the Fairfax
County Park Authority.
This site has also been planned for future development of a new, approximately 180,000 office building
with structured parking, as part of a Public Private Partnership with the Weissberg Corp. The
demolition and planning for the site provides the County with an option for future development of the
East County Human Services Center. The site and planning also provide the property required for the
future extension of Seminary Road, per the Comprehensive Plan.
Total Project Estimate: $2,014,000
Substantial Completion Date: December 19, 2018
