4. EAST TESTING & COMMISSIONING

• On May 25, 26, 27, 31 and June 1 and 2, 6 light
rail vehicles (LRVs) were delivered to the east
end of the alignment.
• Testing and commissioning activities will be
conducted between Brentcliffe Road and
Kennedy Road through December 2021
• The LRVs will run mainly on the surface along a
track in the center of Eglinton Avenue.

5. RETAINING WALL CONSTRUCTION

• This retaining wall is required to hold the embankment created from
the widened Eglinton Ave.
• Retaining wall construction continues and is expected to be
complete in late Summer 2021
• Monitoring of the slope continues and there have been no recent
issues with the movement. Residents on Thursfield Crescent have full
use of their backyards.
• The City provided revised comments on the restoration design and approved planting trees in soil depths
that are less than the by-law requirements, which means trees will be included in the restoration plan.
• CTS has reviewed and incorporated the City’s comments; the final restoration plan is now with the City. CTS
expects approval shortly.
• CTS will share the restoration plan with Elected Officials and Thursfield residents upon completion.
• CTS expects to begin the restoration works in Fall 2021.

6. FINAL ROAD RESTORATION

• Final Road Restoration works will begin in Summer 2021 and last through Fall 2021
• The approximate timeline for road restoration of the At-Grade is:
o Late July 2021: Sloane – Victoria Park
o July – August 2021: Victoria Park – Birchmount
o September – October 2021: Sloane – Leslie
o October 2021: West of Leslie & east of Birchmount
• More specific details regarding the dates and locations of road restoration works will
be communicated to the public as they become available

7. NOISE BARRIER WALL AND SOIL NAIL WALL REMOVAL

• The noise barrier and soil nail walls, located on
the south side of Eglinton Avenue East, east of
Brentcliffe Rd., were erected in 2014 to facilitate
the construction of the east portal.
• As early as August 2021, CTS will begin
removing the noise barrier wall and exposed
segment of the soil nail wall. This work is
expected to last approximately one (1) month
• More detailed information about this work will
be communicated to the residents before the
work begins.

8. RAMP CONSTRUCTION, WEST OF LESLIE STREET

• Excavation work is complete
• Final backfilling activities are underway, and are expected to be completed in July 2021
• After backfilling activities are completed, installation of topsoil, sodding, and landscaping works will take place in
Fall 2021as part of the final restoration plan
