Coach Bios:
               Jay Espovich – Partner, Ernst & Young (Ret.)
               Jay worked at Ernst and Young/Arthur Young & Company for 32 years, in the Bay Area and in Singapore
               and London. He has a BA from Bowdoin College and a JD from Boston University. Jay has recently served
               on the boards of directors of: West Coast Children’s Clinic (chair), Judah L. Magnes Museum, and Global
               Pediatric Alliance. Jay also spent ten years as an active board member of the former Oakland-based
               Home for Jewish Parents, now the Reutlinger Community for Jewish Living located in Danville.

               Paul Jansen –Adjunct Professor, Haas and Director Emeritus, McKinsey & Company
               Paul co-founded and led McKinsey’s Global Nonprofit Practice serving leading nonprofits and
               foundations on issues of strategy and organization. He is the author of many articles and reports
               challenging sector beliefs about performance, including a co-authored report entitled, The Dynamic
               Board: Lessons from High-Performing Nonprofits. Paul teaches Social Sector Solutions and Nonprofit
               Boards: Governance and Leadership at Haas. He currently serves on the boards of Care USA and San

               Bob Miller – CNPL Board Chair
               Bob has been the CEO and Director of Envirotest Systems Corporation; CEO, Founder and Director of
               Systems Control, Inc; and CEO and Director of SD-Scicon. Prior to these positions, he was CEO and
               Director of British Petroleum Scicon Computing Services, Manager of Finance and Administration
               (Wellsco Data Corporation), Assistant to the Treasurer (The Rand Corporation), and Sales and Marketing
               Manager (PacBell). Bob became CEO of the Entrepreneurs Foundation from 2000-2001. He now serves
               on the board of directors of Alameda County Foster Youth Alliance and formerly served on the boards of
               Options Recovery Services and Aspiranet. He holds an MBA from Haas and a BS from University of

               Nora Silver – Adjunct Professor, Haas and Director, Center for Nonprofit & Public Leadership
               Nora is Director of the Center and Adjunct Professor at the Haas School of Business, UC Berkeley. She
               brings over 30 years of leadership experience as a nonprofit founder, executive director and board
               member. She has consulted internationally with more than 200 organizations on strategy and
               governance, authored books and articles on leadership and community involvement and taught at
               universities and conferences around the world. She founded and ran three nonprofit organizations and
               has experience as a funder at a community foundation. Nora teaches Strategic Management of
               Nonprofit Organizations, Social Sector Solutions, and Cal Strategic Philanthropy at Haas. She has led the
               growth of the Board Fellows program from 8 fellows in 2004 to 94 fellows in 2011-12.

                Colin Boyle – Partner & Managing Director, BCG San Francisco
                Colin is the Managing Director at BCG in San Francisco. He is a member of BCG’s Health Care practice
                and has led a number of the firm’s social-impact projects. Before BCG, he worked at Partnership for
                Organ Donation in Boston as a site team specialist and for Corporate Decisions in Boston as an
                associate.



                Lynne LaMarca Heinrich – Senior Consultant and Principal, Marts & Lundy
                Lynne co-leads Marts & Lundy’s Arts & Culture Practice Group and has served in staff and consultant
                roles to the nonprofit sector for more than twenty-seven years working with a varied client portfolio.
                Lynne provides consulting services in fundraising, capital campaigns, nonprofit management, board
                governance, strategic planning, leadership coaching and development to nonprofit organizations. Lynne
                also serves as a Lecturer at the Haas School of Business, where she teaches Board Governance. She is
                also a former member of the Board of Directors of Marts & Lundy.

We encourage you to sign up for this NEW course taught by Paul Jansen. It was added this Spring to allow more Board
Fellows the opportunity take the course. This 1 unit class meets two Sundays during the semester:
February 26th and March 11th (9am-5pm)

Have questions about working in the social sector? The Center is pleased to offer individual mentoring sessions with
experienced Haas alumni. This is an opportunity to gain first hand information on the best ways to enter the constantly
evolving nonprofit industry and to discuss your professional path. In February we have appointments available with
