      The Health Benefits Of Oatmeal



What Is Oatmeal?

Oatmeal is a whole grain that is grown globally. This is partly because
it can be grown in most soil conditions including those that are too
harsh for other crops.

When they are harvested the oats, specifically the bran and germ are
removed from the husk and roasted which gives them a distinctive
flavor.

How Can It Help?

Oatmeal is a great source of fiber and contains various nutrients that
provide various health benefits.


The main ones are as follows;

  •     Lower Cholesterol - A daily bowl of oatmeal has been shown in
        various studies to lower cholesterol. You are at risk of a heart
        attack or strokes if your cholesterol levels are too high because
        blood vessels can become blocked. This is why it is beneficial to
        have oatmeal or porridge for breakfast.



  •     Reduced risk of heart disease - New research has found that the
        antioxidants that are in oats are very good at reducing the
        amount of free radicals in the body, and specifically those that
        affect cholesterol in the body. Some cholesterol is good as this
        helps nutrients get to blood cells. Oats are approved by the FDA
        to display claims stating this as well.

   •   Fights Type-2 diabetes - Whole grains, such as oats, can not
       only lower the risk of heart disease but it can also reduce the
       risk of type-2 diabetes. It has been shown that those who eat
       oatmeal on a daily basis have less instances of diabetes that
       those who dont.


   •   Helps to protect against asthma in children - The risk of asthma
       developing in children can be reduced by up to 50% with
       regular consumption of food that contains omega-3, typically
       fish and whole grains. However, it is also worth remembering
       that wheat allergies are common in children.

As you can see, there are numerous health benefits of oatmeal but
best of all they are cheap, easy to use, can be stored easily and have a
long shelf life. It would be a wise choice to buy oatmeal the next time
you are getting your groceries.

This is partly because it can be grown in most soil conditions including those that are too harsh for other crops. When they are harvested the oats, specifically the bran and germ are removed from the husk and roasted which gives them a distinctive flavor. How Can It Help? Oatmeal is a great source of fiber and contains various nutrients that provide various health benefits. The main ones are as follows; • Lower Cholesterol - A daily bowl of oatmeal has been shown in various studies to lower cholesterol. You are at risk of a heart attack or strokes if your cholesterol levels are too high because blood vessels can become blocked. This is why it is beneficial to have oatmeal or porridge for breakfast. • Reduced risk of heart disease - New research has found that the antioxidants that are in oats are very good at reducing the amount of free radicals in the body, and specifically those that affect cholesterol in the body. It has been shown that those who eat oatmeal on a daily basis have less instances of diabetes that those who dont. • Helps to protect against asthma in children - The risk of asthma developing in children can be reduced by up to 50% with regular consumption of food that contains omega-3, typically fish and whole grains. However, it is also worth remembering that wheat allergies are common in children. As you can see, there are numerous health benefits of oatmeal but best of all they are cheap, easy to use, can be stored easily and have a long shelf life.
