Dan Centinello: What Is Split-Ticket Voting?Dan Centinello

Part of the hold-up is due to the fact that 41 of our 50 states prohibit straight-ticket voting, a practice which expedites the voting process exponentially by allowing voters to check one box to select all members of a party. However, despite nine states allowing straight-ticket voting, more and more Americans are opting to go split-ticket in recent decades. Here, Dan Centinello explains split-ticket voting and weighs the pros/cons.
Dan Centinello: The Cost of Running For OfficeDan Centinello
Says political guru Dan Centinello: You probably know more about politicians both local and national than they know about themselves, thanks to campaign ads during the political season.
Political ads are virtually ubiquitous in today’s world. You’ll be hard-pressed to find a channel that doesn’t inundate viewers with ads seemingly every commercial break.
Dan Centinello: Has the U.S Improved the Way It Runs Elections?Dan Centinello
Here, political veteran Dan Centinello shares data from the Election Performance Index (EPI), a comprehensive amalgamation of 17 key indicators that measures overall election administration in the US, that suggests increased turnout in recent election years. Their evidence implies that despite swirling rumors of rigged elections, despite reports of incredibly long lines, and despite alleged voter fraud and unprompted last-minute party switches, the United States has improved its overall election administration.

While having options and more avenues is great, Dan Centinello says it's important to remember that sticking with one employer, brand or individual is sometimes better than catching a whiff of the grass on the other side.

Working with data is a challenge for many organizations. Nonprofits in particular may need to collect and analyze sensitive, incomplete, and/or biased historical data about people. In this talk, Dr. Cori Faklaris of UNC Charlotte provides an overview of current AI capabilities and weaknesses to consider when integrating current AI technologies into the data workflow. The talk is organized around three takeaways: (1) For better or sometimes worse, AI provides you with “infinite interns.” (2) Give people permission & guardrails to learn what works with these “interns” and what doesn’t. (3) Create a roadmap for adding in more AI to assist nonprofit work, along with strategies for bias mitigation.
