This presentation summarizes the "b" Shaped Model of system development. The model consists of iterative phases from inception through operation and maintenance. It begins with identifying needs in the inception phase. This is followed by analysis to define problems and specifications, then design of system structure and implementation. Next is the production phase for coding, testing, and training. Once live, the system enters the operation phase and continuous maintenance cycle with ideas for improvements feeding back into new inception phases. The "b" model allows for flexibility and reversing between phases if needed. However, it can be slow for changes as each requires reanalysis and design.
