The AVID program connects to the Seven Strategies of Assessment for Learning in three key ways: 1) It helps students understand learning targets and goals by providing clear visions of expectations, models of strong and weak work, and opportunities for self-reflection and goal-setting. 2) It offers regular feedback on student work and progress through notebook checks, summaries, rubrics and data-driven discussions to help students understand where they are currently. 3) It aims to close gaps in learning through lessons focused on specific targets, and tools for revision like writing frameworks, tutorials, and peer assessment to improve student work and engagement.
