AUTONOMOUS ROBOT WITH LPG GAS SENSOR
USING ARDUINO UNO
2. INTRODUCTION
• This is an autonomous robot using arduino
microcontroller ,with LPG gas sensor and
buzzer alarming us about the gas leakage.
3. COMPONENTS
• Arduino microcontroller
• Motor driver
• Buzzer(5 volt)
• LPG gas sensor MQ6
• Chasis
• 2 Batteries(9 volt)
• Wheels ( 2 wheels)
• 1 caster wheel
• Arduino IDE
• USB Cable to upload program
• A lighter
5. ARDUINO
• Arduino is a micro controller which is used as
a physical computing platform on a simple
input and output board . Its an open source
hardware ,for building digital devices and
interactive devices that can sense and control
physical devices
10. L293D Description: L293D is a typical Motor driver or Motor Driver IC which
allows DC motor to drive on either direction. L293D is a 16-pin IC which can control a
set of two DC motors simultaneously in any direction. It means that you can control
two DC or geared motor with a single L293D IC. Dual H-bridge Motor Driver
integrated circuit (IC).
Concept
It works on the concept of H-bridge. H-bridge is a circuit which allows the voltage to
be flown in either direction. As you know voltage need to change its direction for
being able to rotate the motor in clockwise or anticlockwise direction, Hence H-
bridge IC are ideal for driving a DC motor.
In a single l293d chip there two h-Bridge circuit inside the IC which can rotate two dc
motor independently. Due its size it is very much used in robotic application for
controlling DC motors. Given below is the pin diagram of a L293D motor controller.
There are two Enable pins on l293d. Pin 1 and pin 9, for being able to drive the motor,
the pin 1 and 9 need to be high. For driving the motor with left H-bridge you need to
enable pin 1 to high. And for right H-Bridge you need to make the pin 9 to high. If
anyone of the either pin1 or pin9 goes low then the motor in the corresponding
section will suspend working. It’s like a switch.
TIP: you can simply connect the pin16 VCC (5v) to pin 1 and pin 9 to make them high.
12. LPG GAS SENSOR MODULE DESCRIPTION: This is a simple-to-use liquefied
petroleum gas (LPG) sensor, suitable for sensing LPG (composed of mostly propane
and butane) concentrations in the air. The MQ-6 can detect gas concentrations
anywhere from 200 to 10000ppm.
This sensor has a high sensitivity and fast response time. The sensor’s output is an
analog resistance. The drive circuit is very simple; all you need to do is power the
heater coil with 5V, add a load resistance, and connect the output to an ADC.
ppm.The sensor can operate at temperatures from -10 to 50°C and consumes less
than 150 mA at 5 V.
PG Gas Sensor (MQ6) Features: High Sensitivity to LPG, iso-butane, propane
Small sensitivity to alcohol, smoke
Detection Range: 100 - 10,000 ppm iso-butane propane
Fast Response Time: <10s
Simple drive circuit
Heater Voltage: 5.0V
It has 4 pins 5volt connected to 5v in arduino UNO
GND of lpg gas sensor to arduino UNO
DOUT,
AOUT to A0 in arduino UNO
