4. Project Objectives
To study the working principle of gas and smoke
detector system
To design and construct of the gas and smoke
detector system and control system using Arduino
with Bluetooth module
To implement gas and smoke design in the project
At the very first time of smoke creation so that
avoided the unwanted accident
5. Literature Review
A smoke system is number of devices working
together to detect and warm people through visual
and audio appliances when smoke and carbon
monoxide.
A smoke detector is a device that senses smoke, gas.
6. Features Of MQ-5 Smoke Sensor
The MQ-5 smoke sensor is sensitive to smoke and to
the following flammable gases:
High sensitivity LPG
Natural gas
Town gas
Butane
Small Sensitivity Alcohol , Smoke
7. Connect MQ-5 Sensor
The MQ-5 has 4 pins: Vcc,GND,A0,D0
Right Now I Will Only Deal With 3 pins.
Here is how you should connect the MQ-5 to your
Arduino
Vcc to Arduino 5v
GND to Arduino GND pin
A0 to Arduino analog pin A5
8. What is Arduino ?
Arduino is an open source electronics platform based
on easy to use hardware and software.
ATmega328 microcontroller(8 bit)
Input voltage 5v
32k Flash Memory
16 MHz Clock Speed
Operation on +5v
14 Digital I/O Pins(of which 6 are PWM)
6 Analog pins
9. How does it work?
When threshold voltage remain at minimum level
that time green light still on.
When the smoke reaches a certain level, it will make
sound a buzzer and a red LED will turn on.
Bluetooth system also included this process which
gives a signal by SMS on the smart phone.
10. Necessary Equipment
MQ-5 gas sensor
5V power supply
Male to male to male to female jumper wires
Arduino Uno
Arduino Bluetooth Module
Breadboard
LED
Buzzer
220 ohm resistor
14. Application
They are used in gas leakage detecting equipment in
family and industry
It is suitable for detecting of LPG , natural gas , town
gas
Avoid the noise of alcohol and cooking fumes
cigarette smoke.
15. Advantages
Detects Products of Combustion
Sensitive Enough to detect level of gases
Detects gases prior to reaching lethal levels
Produced between the Occurrences of detectable
level and detectable heat levels
16. Disadvantages
Can be Prone false alarms
Must be mounted at a low level
Can be Poisoned
Not Suitable for areas where CO and CO2 and
Produced the functions within the area
Cannot be considered as a universal replacement and
thermal detectors
High Cost
17. Conclusion
Smoke detector is One of the easiest and low
costly.
Most of industries use it, Because it work fatly to
protect and most effective.
In future the use of gas and smoke detection will
increases.
In future we include Bluetooth Module
At finaly we complete this project using 3 sensor
