Friday of the Nineteenth Week in Ordinary Time
There is a tendency to see commitment as good only as long as
it goes well. To walk away from our commitment (rather than
to work it out) when difficulties arise is always a possibility.
Today, the Gospel reminds us to take our relationships
(relationship with God, marriage, friendship, family, church
community, etc.) and commitments (religious vows, work,
studies, etc.) very seriously. We pray that God may grant us the
grace we need for this.

4. Take a moment of silence
and recall the presence of
God within you. Let
everything go from your
day - your worries, tasks,
timelines - just let your
spirit rest in God’s.
Be aware of the great
love God has for you.

6. A READING FROM THE
HOLY GOSPEL
ACCORDING TO
MATTHEW
Mt 19:3-12
7. Some Pharisees approached Jesus, and tested him, saying,
“Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife for any cause whatever?”
He said in reply, “Have you not read that from the beginning
the Creator made them male and female and said,
For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother
and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh?
So they are no longer two, but one flesh.
Therefore, what God has joined together, man must not separate.”
8. They said to him, “Then why did Moses command
that the man give the woman a bill of divorce and dismiss her?”
He said to them, “Because of the hardness of your hearts
Moses allowed you to divorce your wives,
but from the beginning it was not so.
I say to you, whoever divorces his wife
(unless the marriage is unlawful)
and marries another commits adultery.”
9. His disciples said to him,
“If that is the case of a man with his wife,
it is better not to marry.”
He answered, “Not all can accept this word,
but only those to whom that is granted.
Some are incapable of marriage because they were born so;
some, because they were made so by others;
some, because they have renounced marriage
for the sake of the Kingdom of heaven.
Whoever can accept this ought to accept it.”
The Gospel of the Lord
10. Intercessions
Gathered together, we offer our prayers to God who nourishes us
abundantly with His love. We pray,
Lord, hear our prayer.
For the pope, bishops and priests, that they may proclaim the message of the
good news with conviction and love even these times of uncertainties . We pray:
For our frontliners and all those who work so that others may be helped, that they
may receive God's protection as they serve. We pray:
For all of us, that God may give us the grace to show kindness in caring for one
another while challenged by COVID-19. We pray:
For those prayers that we hold in the silence of our hearts, we pray:
12. We ask for the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary as we pray,
Hail Mary, full of grace,
the Lord is with thee;
blessed art thou among women,
and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God,
pray for us sinners,
now and at the hour of our death. Amen
13. Keeping in mind that whatever we do, we do it for the glory of God, and so we
pray,
Glory be to the Father
and to the Son
and to the Holy Spirit.
As it was in the beginning is now,
and ever shall be,
world without end. Amen.
14. God, your name is love;
everyone who loves knows you
and anyone who fails to love
can never have known you.
Keep us from separating what you have united:
husbands and wives, parents and their children,
your Son and his Church,
friends in their joys and sorrows.
Let all live in your creative, lasting love,
through Jesus Christ our Lord.
