There are many, many prayers written in the Bible.
We have the prayers that Moses prayed;
We have the prayers that the Judges prayed;
We have the beautiful prayers that King David prayed; and
We have the powerful prayers that the apostle Paul prayed for the church.
If you want to grow in your spiritual life you can follow the pattern of those prayers. They will help you to grow great in faith and powerful in your spiritual life.

4. Among all the prayers in the Bible, however, the
greatest is The Lord’s Prayer. Why is it the greatest prayer?
Simply because all the other prayers are man’s prayers. The
Lord’s Prayer, on the other hand, was taught by the Lord
Jesus Himself. But many believers have one great problem:
we aren’t able to spend much time in prayer. We like to
pray. We desire to pray. But we simply don’t know how to
engage in prolonged prayer. When we try to pray we all
do like what the apostle Peter did: fall asleep. In Luke 9:32
and 22:45 you will find that when the Lord Jesus was busy
praying the disciples were busy sleeping. Why was that so?
5. A Christian pastor taught a group of Christians how to pray,
he said, “You must learn to talk to God for long hour. Don’t
just pray few sentences. Talk to God. And when you talk to
God, suddenly you will find the hours fly away.”
One of them listening attentively and decided to do just that,
the next morning, before he left school, he got up at 5
o’clock, feeling excited at the thought of praying long hours
with God. After some time had passed, in his mind he
thought he prayed long hours with God and was about to
say, “Amen!” He look at the clock, it must be the clock not
working and then he look for another to confirm & another
but all showing the same time, his prayer only last for 3
minutes. He quipped, “I prayed everything and couldn't
believe my eyes, it takes only 3 minutes.”
6. We all have this problem,
don’t we?
We want to pray but we don’t
know how to pray or what to
say. I prayed for this. I prayed
for that. What else is there?
The disciples had this
problem. They were watching
the Lord Jesus. He always
prayed long hours and they
always slept long hours. They
may have thought, How come
He can pray such long hours?
7. Lord, Teach Us To Pray
Once they found Him praying the whole night. Apparently
Jesus never slept at all. And that was not the only occasion.
Frequently He prayed all night alone, kneeling down and
conversing with God. So one day they asked Him: Lord,
teach us how to pray (Lk. 11:1). The real question they were
asking the Lord Jesus was, Lord, teach us the secret how to
pray? We want to learn how to pray like You. Teach us how
to pray. Lord Jesus, we are always sleeping. We don’t know
how to pray for long hour. After praying for a short while, we
do not know what else to pray. The reason we do not know
how to pray is that we do not know how to talk to our
heavenly Father..

9. Lesson with my grand daughter, her mom always give
her assignment to do at my place, I just guide her
along. At one time she read a sentences, she will
relate to me all her activity in school. I always enjoy
her excitement telling me all about her activity.
What else Jesus pray with the Father for long hour
you may wonder? Of course, He will prayed for His
disciples to keep them save, I believe also He talked to
His Father about His every daily activities. How He
cast out demons, how He healed the sick, how He
turned the bread and few fish to feed the thousands,
how He talked to the Samaritan woman at the well.
Everything He share to His Father.
10.
11. Jesus confide to His Father Matt.17:24-27
24 When they came to Capernaum, the collectors of the two-
drachma tax went up to Peter and said, “Does your teacher
not pay the tax?” 25 He said, “Yes.” And when he came into
the house, Jesus spoke to him first, saying, “What do you
think, Simon? From whom do kings of the earth take toll or
tax? From their sons or from others?” 26 And when he said,
“From others,” Jesus said to him, “Then the sons are free. 27
However, not to give offense to them, go to the sea and cast a
hook and take the first fish that comes up, and when you open
its mouth you will find a shekel.[a] Take that and give it to
them for me and for you.”
12. Let me rephrase Jesus talking to the Father
“When I came to Capernaum Father, the tax
collectors asked Peter whether I need to pay tax, and I
purposely ask Peter, “Should the king of the world
necessary to pay tax? From the son or others?” And
Peter answered, “From the son.” And I said to Peter,
“Then the sons are free.” But not to offense them, I
asked Peter to go to the sea and cast a hook and take
the fish that comes up first and when you open the
mouth, you will find a shekel, take that and give it to
the collectors for you and for me. Am I doing right
Father?”
13. The Model Prayer
However, while we can ask other people to pray for us, at
the same time we must also learn how to pray ourselves. We
must learn how to touch God ourselves. Whenever we have
a need, whenever we have any problem, we can always
know how to talk to God. That is the main reason why the
Lord Jesus Christ taught His disciples — and that means also
to us — how to pray.
14. The Lord Jesus teaches us to call God “Our Father” indicating that we are
the family. When you kneel down to pray, don’t just rush into prayer. Wait
on God. Worship the Lord first with singing and praise.
15.
16. When you begin to praise and worship God
the presence of God comes and fills you (Ps. 22:3).
So the moment you kneel down to worship, the
Lord God’s presence will come and fill you. The
Lord Jesus Himself will come and stand beside you
— in fact very close to you. And He will intercede
for you.
17. “Our Father” Why our Father? Jesus is not praying
with them, He taught to each of His disciple to pray
and say, “Our Father”. There must be more than one
in the midst, right? And who is that?
A Superior Priesthood Heb.7:24,25
…24But because Jesus lives forever, He has a
permanent priesthood. 25Therefore He is able to save
completely those who draw near to God through Him,
since He always lives to intercede for them
18.
19.
20.
21. When we start to pray, there are three in our midst, the Holy
Spirit, Jesus and you.
Every Sunday morning, I went to church one hour earlier to get
a parking lot for my car. So I went to the mezzanine floor to do
my quiet time, I find my time pass very fast as I talked to my
Father in heaven. It took me at least more than 30 minutes to
fellowship with my Father and I can extend longer if I want to
because the Holy Spirit bring me to remembrance who to pray
and what to pray. You will feel inexpressible joy after the
fellowship.
Do you enjoy the fellowship with your Father in prayer?
If not, follow the Lord’s prayer that Jesus taught us to pray.
22.
23.
24.
25.
26.
27. There is a portal between heaven and earth, men cannot
passed through this portal without the blood of the Lamb
and without supplication.
Only prayer can we bring His Kingdom come down to
earth and His will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
What does it means?
When you pray to the Father, the portal will open, it is like
you are connecting your phone to the receiving end of
another person.
This portal is controlled by the devils, there is a covenant
by God. Without prayer, you cannot access to the Father,
either you are illegitimate child or unbeliever.
28.
29.
30. When you pray to the Father in heaven for
blessing, for healing of any sort of disease,
diabetes, high blood pressure, migraine, cancer or
near death etc. There will be war in heaven, the
devil’s stronghold will never easily give up without
a fight. That is what the Bible means, “Your
Kingdom come down to earth and Yours will be
done on earth as it is in heaven. Before the
healing take place, victory must take place in
heaven.
31.
32.
33.
34.
35. The Lord Jesus Christ taught us how to approach Him
when we have disobeyed Him or have not lived up to
His expectations. Why do we need to pray for
forgiveness? Truly, sin blocks God’s face from looking
at us and blocks God’s ears from hearing our prayer
(Isa. 59:2). When we sin, our fellowship with God is
broken, but the Father and child relationship with
God is not broken. You must bear this in mind
36. If you keep unforgiveness in your heart, bitterness in your
heart, anger in your heart, it would bring disease and sickness
in your body. The Lord Jesus said that when you want to bring
your offering to God and you remember you have something
against your brother, you are to reconcile with him before you
give your offering (Matt. 5:23,24).
Ask for forgiveness.
Give forgiveness.
The Lord Jesus said that if you don’t forgive someone you
would be handed over to the tormentors. What or who are
the tormentors? It is the evil spirits that afflict you with
sicknesses. How is it possible? When you sin, you disobey
God. You open the door for the devil to attack you. The devil
puts all types of sicknesses on your body.
37. Luke13:11-13 …11and a woman there had been disabled by a spirit for
eighteen years. She was hunched over and could not stand up straight.
12When Jesus saw her, He called her over and said, “Woman, you are
set free from your infirmity.” 13Then He laid His hands on her, and
immediately she straightened up and began to glorify God.…

41.
42. We make the petition, Lead us not into temptation.
We are asking God to deliver us from all temptation.
When you pray this prayer, you are asking God to lead
your thought life in the right path. We are asking God
to hold our hands and help us to walk in a clean, moral
pathway.
Prayer anticipates the occurrence of future, potential
sins. We are praying, Papa, keep me from all evil.
Deliver me from temptation so that I don’t fall into
temptation and sin. What a beautiful prayer! There is
a prayer for past sin, and another prayer for future
sins. You committed a mistake in the past. Now you
pray that God would protect you from committing
another mistake in the future. Do you see how very
beautifully the Lord Jesus put all the points in the
Lord’s Prayer?
43.
44.
45. The Lord’s Prayer opens with worship to God. It
closes the prayer with another kind of worship. If
you read the Book of Psalms very carefully, you will
see that almost all the prayers in there follow the
same pattern. It is opened with a worship, followed
by a prayer of petition that tells of problems and
trials, and then closed with the giving of glory and
praise to God.
46. We are always very quick to say In Jesus’ Name. Amen. But
that’s not how the Lord Jesus taught us. He said to pray like
this: Thine is the kingdom, thine is the power, thine is the
glory, forever and ever. Amen. This pattern of prayer derives
from the Old Testament. In the Book of 1 Chronicles 29:11 you
will find written there very beautifully the words: Thine, O
Lord, is the greatness, and the power, and the glory, and the
victory, and the majesty: for all that is in heaven and in the
earth is thine: thine is the kingdom, O Lord, and thou art
exalted as head above all. This is the prayer pattern in the
Bible we should follow.
Editor's Notes
Have we realized, when the pastor started to pray for the church. Some of the church goer whisper in their heart, “How nice, I could take a short nap.” When the pastor say “Amen” We open our eyes, feel refreshing.
Worship God with singing and praise.
12
Not only Jesus is our intercessor as we pray to the Father, the Holy Spirit also help us to intercede to our heavenly Father.
Doesn’t means that He will go away and not with us anymore, the moment when we pray, He is in our midst, pleading on our behalf, “Father, listen to our prayer, may his request be done.”
