2. What is the purpose of Demonstrative
adjectives?
- Demonstrative adjectives describes the location of a
NOUN in relation to a person.
- Demonstrative adjectives in English are “This” “That” and
“That over there”
- For example:
This book, that chair, that table over there
- When we say “This,” we are implying that the object is
relatively close to the person speaking.
- When we say “that,” we are implying that the object is a
bit further away from the person speaking.
- When we say “that over there” we are implying that the
object may be some distance, across the room, perhaps
from the person speaking.

Demonstrative adjectives in English are simply the words:
