Tuesday of the Eighteenth Week in Ordinary Time
In today’s Gospel, Jesus is teaching us three important things in life.
The first is PRAYER and taking time to talk to God in silence.
The second is to TRUST Him in times of troubles and uncertainty, for he
said, “Courage! Don’t be afraid!”
The third is to have FAITH in Him and don’t doubt in in His infinite power. If
we follow Jesus’ teachings today it will be “perfectly well” for us.

4. Take a moment of silence
and recall the presence of
God within you. Let
everything go from your
day - your worries, tasks,
timelines - just let your
spirit rest in God’s.
Be aware of the great
love God has for you.

6. A READING FROM THE
HOLY GOSPEL
ACCORDING TO
MATTHEW
Mt 14:22-36
7. Jesus made the disciples get into a boat
and precede him to the other side of the sea,
while he dismissed the crowds.
After doing so, he went up on the mountain by himself to pray.
When it was evening he was there alone.
Meanwhile the boat, already a few miles offshore,
was being tossed about by the waves, for the wind was against it.
During the fourth watch of the night,
he came toward them, walking on the sea.
When the disciples saw him walking on the sea they were terrified.
“It is a ghost,” they said, and they cried out in fear.
8. At once Jesus spoke to them, “Take courage, it is I;
do not be afraid.”
Peter said to him in reply,
“Lord, if it is you, command me to come to you on the water.”
He said, “Come.”
Peter got out of the boat and began to walk on the water
toward Jesus.
But when he saw how strong the wind was he became frightened;
and, beginning to sink, he cried out, “Lord, save me!”
Immediately Jesus stretched out his hand and caught him,
and said to him, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?”
After they got into the boat, the wind died down.
9. After they got into the boat, the wind died down.
Those who were in the boat did him homage, saying,
“Truly, you are the Son of God.”
After making the crossing, they came to land at Gennesaret.
When the men of that place recognized him,
they sent word to all the surrounding country.
People brought to him all those who were sick
and begged him that they might touch only the tassel
on his cloak, and as many as touched it were healed.
The Gospel of the Lord
10. Intercessions
Gathered in joyful hope, we offer our prayers to God, who loves us
dearly. We pray,
Lord, hear our prayer.
We thank you, Father, for the new school year. May we overcome all
the problems and obstacles that will come along the way. We pray:
Trusting in your grace, Lord, help us to be confident in choosing what
is right and pleasing to you. We pray:
We pray for the sick, Lord, give them the hope and the courage they
need today and everyday. We pray:
12. We ask for the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary as we pray,
Hail Mary, full of grace,
the Lord is with thee;
blessed art thou among women,
and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God,
pray for us sinners,
now and at the hour of our death. Amen
13. Keeping in mind that whatever we do, we do it for the glory of God, and so we
pray,
Glory be to the Father
and to the Son
and to the Holy Spirit.
As it was in the beginning is now,
and ever shall be,
world without end. Amen.
14. FATHER, TEACH ME GOODNESS
(By: Saint Anthony Mary Claret)
Dear God,
I believe, Lord, but let me believe more firmly.
I hope, Lord, but let me hope more surely.
I love, Lord, but let me love more ardently.
I repent, Lord, but let me repent more deeply.
I beg you, Lord, what do you want me to do?
15. Give me an understanding heart
to distinguish right from wrong.
Father, give me humility, meekness,
chastity, patience and charity.
Father, teach me goodness,
knowledge and discipline.
Father, give me your love,
together with your grace,
and I will be rich enough. Amen.
16. Immaculate Heart of Mary,
Lead us to salvation.
St. Anthony Mary Claret,
Pray for us.
Blessed Claretian Martyrs,
Intercede for us.
