Audio Story
Task 2: Initial Responses
Initial Responses and Idea Generation
Log your initial thoughts regarding the set brief in this document
What stories could you use? How do you feel about the different potential
formats? What are the positives about this project? What could be some difficult
aspects? Etc
Use the format on this document to guide this response – some are set as a
question on one slide, but you should look to add further slides as necessary
Which stories have you researched and looked
as potential starting points?
• Fnaf
• Scp 096
• Spc 3008
• Sender man
• Eyeless jack
• Ticci toby
• backooms
Which research into existing products has been the
most useful? Includes examples and explanations
I think that going back and rewatching old explanation and theory videos
about some of the potential stories I picked worked the best because it
shows me how there can be multiple ways to word stories in order to create
ways for people to interpret different things. It also shows me that there are
multiple ways I can go about this.
Which production format [drama, narration,
etc] do you feel fits your idea best and why?
I think a narration best fits my idea because it is somewhat easier to do
compared to the rest. It will also be better because only one of the people I
asked wants to be filmed, and then after that all I have to do is add effects
and im done.
Which story have you settled on and why?
I decided to do the story behind/ lore of fnaf, (Five Nights At Freddies). I
picked this becauuse its something I know loads about and have taken a
deep interest in for at least 6/7 years now. I also think that the plot is
genuinely interesting and keeps the reader/watcher entertained.
If you had to sell your story quickly, what is the
title and the logline?
You, the player, are a new night guard for the family diner called "Freddy
Fazbears Pizza". Your goal is the until 6am the next day when your shift
ends, however at the same time you must avoid and maintain the
restaurants singing and dancing animatronics named Freddy Fazbear, Bonnie
the Bunny, Chica the Chicken and lastly in pirate cove, Foxy the pirate fox.
Occasionally a fifth animatronic will show up, Golden Freddy, however he is
somewhat harmless and will only cause you game to crash.
What ideas have you had for sound effects,
narration and storytelling?
For sound effects I think I will use
childlike crying/ laughter;
-loud, heavy footsteps
-wind/rain
-whispering
-crying
-metal clanging
-ballons
For storytelling I think I plan to keep it simple
but almost try to replicate the way the phone
guy speaks, as in fnaf. The person talking will be
a narrator.
Initial feelings…how do you feel about the
project currently?
I prefer this project over the music video and like the facts we can choose
what stories we do. I also really like that I don’t have to be the one to
talk/narrate. I'm still not fully comfortable with the projects we are doing but
this one better than the music video imo.
What other research do you think you need to
do?
I think I'm going to look at ways to make your tone of voice fit the themes of
a video/ audio and ways on how to create effect and a tone. I coulld also look
at wyas to word sentences better so my audio sound the best it can

Editor's Notes

  • #3 Think about creative and technical elements, it could be you like the idea of evoking a sense of place or you have the perfect person in mind as a narrator? Or are you keen to start writing a story and take it from there? Ideas and development are personal, try and get across where your idea is and what has got you to that point.
  • #4 Add as many slides as needed from the work you did on Urban Legends, York Ghost stories and other inspirations you have considered. Which story have you gravitated toward and why?
  • #7 Think about why this idea rather than any other…is it because it has the best scope for sfx, narration, etc. Reasons can be personal, but you need explain them.
  • #8 A logline is a one sentence description or summary of the audio story. Loglines distill the important elements of your script/story—main character, setup, central conflict, antagonist—into a clear, concise teaser. The goal is to write a logline so enticing that it hooks the listener into your idea

  • #10 Consider pros and cons here, what are you excited about, what is a worry…
  • #11 This could be audio recording, post-production, getting cast/narrator, etc…it might be just organising your idea into a workable project…
