Audience Research
By Keith Eytle
Why?
 The main reason we carried out our audience research
was to help us gather information and ideas about our
genre and what she would do for out music video.
 This will help us as it will tell us how our audience feels
about our chosen song and genre and it will give us an
idea of what needs to change in order to make sure our
production is successful.
Q1 – WHAT IS YOUR GENDER
The first question we asked was
what the gender of our
audience. This was to
understand whether our genre /
song was more appealing to
females or males. The results
showed us that a majority of the
responses are from females
which could be beneficial to us
as it let us know who the
majority of our audience is.
Q2 – How old are you?
As you can see form the
results our audience is
mainly 16-18 years olds. This
is mainly because the survey
was sent to our entire sixth
form. This will help us as we
are around the same age
range we can make a video
they can relate to and
understand.
Q3 – What genre of music do you like?
Q4 How do you watch music videos?
 We asked this question to
get an idea of what
platforms our audience use
to watch music videos. This
was useful because it told
us that YouTube is the most
used platform and would be
the best platform to put our
music video on to expand
our reach and make it easier
for our audience to access.
Q5 – What do you like to see in a music
videos?
 We asked this question to find
out what the main thing we
need to focus on in our video.
The result suggest that
narrative and performance are
very important to the success
of a music video. Narrative
and performance will be a
prominent factor in our video
Q6 – How do you know when the latest music
video is out for your favourite artist?
 We asked this question so we
could learn what the best
way to promote our video.
From the results we now
know that twitter Instagram
and snapchat seem to be the
main way our audience find
out about new music. So this
is something we will take into
account when promoting our
artist/ music video.
Q7 – Would you watch a music video based on
love?
 We asked this question to
know whether or not the idea
of basing our music video on
the aspect of love is a good
idea. From the results people
generally don’t mind or will
watch a music video based
on love. This is helpful as it
tells us that our idea isn’t a
bad one and our target
audience welcome it
Q8 – Would you rather watching a love based
music video through a male or female
perspective?  We asked this question to
find out how we should do
our music video. Whether a
male or female perspective
will be a better. The result
told us that our audience
generally don’t mind as the
results weren’t one sided.
Unfortunately didn’t really
help us as it didn’t help us
decide what perspective we
should use.
Q9 Listen to the first 30 seconds of Don’t Go.
What tone does it give off to you?
 We asked this question to
get an idea of how our
audience feel when they
listen to this song. The
results suggest that the
audience mainly get a sad
feeling and soothing when
listening to the song. This
was helpful as it told
showed us what direction to
take the music video in.
Q10 – What would you likw to see in this
music video?
 We asked this question to get ideas for our music video.
The results suggested that we should have a ‘perfect
couple’ in a relationship going through ups and downs.
This was very helpful as it gave us a direct idea of what
to do for our music video.
