Analysis- Digipack and Advert
Jade Mason and Annie Myatt
Introduction
Annie and Myself created a questionnaire to get some feedback on what
audience look for in and . We
did this so that when we created our own, we knew what our target audience
were looking for.
We created this questionnaire on and shared it to our
friends (the age of our target audience) to get responses. We posted it on
to get a wider variety of responses.
Demographics
Age: the most popular response was We expected this response
because the majority of the people we asked were friends around the similar
age to us. Also as we posted it on social media, most of our friends on
and followers on are of a similar age.
Our results were as 18 responses of 20 were 11-20 (90%). This
will affect the production of our digipack and advert because we know that
we need to make it for as low as 11 year olds, but not
making it too immature for the 20 year olds. This will impact the photo
featured and the font/language used.
Gender: the most popular response was
This was expected because the majority of the people that
we asked were female. This is mainly because we are both
Female therefore we have more female friends. The
results were because 75% were Female and
25% were Male. This will affect the production of our
digipack and advert due to us making sure our final
product is and suitable for
the female side. This will include more feminine colours
(steering away from the stereotypical male colours-blue)
or impacting the model used.
Demographics
Ethnicity: the most popular response was This was expected
because we ourselves our White therefore the majority of our friends are
of this ethnicity. The results were because 18 of 20 said
White. This will only effect our production slightly due to a
on the front of our digipack and poster.
Demographics
: the most response
was D.
This was because we are students,
therefore the majority of our friends will
be of a high social class. Also due to the age of
the people they are younger than the typical
professional or doctor.
The result was
because there were more than two options
chosen. D has 12 of 20, E had 6 and C2 had 2.
Demographics
Design and Genre
the most popular result was at 85%; this
result was because R&B had 5% and Indie had
10%.
This was however because our is
who stereotypically enjoy pop
music. This is because music shows such as the Top 40 and
radio’s such as Heart tend to play and feature more pop music
which is targeted at a similar audience to ours.
This will the production of our digipacks and advert as
we will chose a from the .
Design and Genre
For the more the most colours scheme
result in the questionnaire was Monotone; we expect that result due
to that being a bit more mature than our target audience- we expected more
due to the younger age of our target audience.
Even though the results weren't what we expected we are very happy with
the results because we feel that the difference between the expected colours
of bright compared to our chosen colours of monotones will oppose
stereotypes and make our digipacks and adverts stand out.
The results were due to Monotone having 45%,
Subtle having 20%, Dark and Bright both having 15% and Other 5%. This will
affect our production by deciding which colours that we will use when
creating our digipacks and adverts- monotone colours.
Design and Genre
The result for image size
was ; this wasn’t expected because
the adverts and digipacks that we looked at
and researched didn’t feature large images,
some didn’t feature images at all. The result
was because only 50% said
Large: 25% said Subtle, 15% said Small and
10% said .
Due to our target audience being ,
this result was however due
to younger audiences wanted and being
attracted to more visual media. This will
affect the production of our digipacks and
adverts as we will make sure that we feature
a large image to please our target audience.
Design and Genre
The response for the look of the model was
at 60%; this wasn’t due to the target
audience of 11-20 years old stereotypically wanting a magazine to
feature a more model –male/female gaze.
This was in one aspect because 40% still chose
otherwise, however it did steer us in a different direction, resulting in
us taking a new approach to the design and feature of our model.
This will impact the production of our digipacks and advert as we will
make sure that we to our target audience by making our
model appear more rather than appearing more
.
Design and Genre
The result for was the
; this was because it is more
of a professional vibe than the other options however due to
the audience being younger we did feel that more of them
would want a more relaxed location such as Outdoors which
got 0 votes.
The results were because 75% of the votes
were for a photography studio which we will use to appeal to
our target audience. This will affect the production of our
digipack and advert due to us now using a more
location however it will need more
planning due to having to book our the location and facilities
needed.
Design and Genre
The result for the shot type was a
; this was because most fans
would like to see their favorite artists head on as they are
their idols.
The results were because only
45% and Upwards Shot, Close Up and Long Distance all
had 15% and Downward Shot and Other had 5%. This will
affect the production of our magazine as we will make
sure we have a model who isn't afraid to have the camera
close to their face and we know that we need to make
sure the model isn’t at any .
Design and Genre
When we asked what would our target audience the most
to our digipack and music advert they said the . Similarly to
this, when we asked what our target audience wanted to see as the
main aspect of the digipacks and advert, the results were 13% Model;
this was because when looking at digipacks and adverts
the first thing teenagers stereotypically look for is the artist themselves
as they are the best of their brand.
The result was due to Model only having 35%;
Colour Scheme was very close behind however with 30% of votes. This
will affect our production as we will not only focus on the model but
due to playing an important part, we will make sure we
put focus on that also, to appeal to the .
Design and Genre
When we were asked what our
wanted to be used as the font style the most popular answer
was with 65% however and Other had
15% each and Lucinda with 5%; this result was
because there was a variety in responses; this was
because not everyone of the same age would like
the same font due to their different .
However it was because young people will tend to
go for more therefore selecting Sans Serif,
compared to an elder response most likely to go for the more
professional and formal fonts.
When producing our digipacks and adverts we will make sure
that we use Sans Serif throughout the creation.
Design and Genre
When asking which layout for the
digipack and advert, the results were
(75%); this was because the
younger audiences stereotypically would steer away
from adverts and posters with large amounts of
text.
The results were because it had the
responses and shows us that we need to
make sure that we don’t the page with un-
necessary text.
