Chapter 2:
1. This was an example of Folkways because in the first segment of the eight, the natives showed
talked about how they do stuff in their island. While they were talking about coming to the U.S., I saw
the way they were all dressed by only covering their groin area and having the rest of their body
exposed especially their buttocks. Even the women only had their groin area cover not even the breast
area was cover. While they were getting ready to come to America, they realized that they would have
to wear clothes to cover their whole body and they were not use to that and the other natives were
laughing. This is part of a Folkway because it shows the way their culture is and how they live day to
day. 2. This is an example of Non material Culture because in all the segments, you can see that when
the Natives talk about how they have chickens and a few pigs that they own and that they feed off of
the plants or stuff that they grow in the garden. Their custom idea that they have in their culture is to
have joy and peace and love. 3. This is a example of Cultural Diffusion because when the Natives
arrive to the ranch in Montana that they will be staying at for a while in segment 2 and 3, they see how
the couple in Montana has different cultural elements than they do because the women just don t do all
the cooking, the men also help out the grown women told

About 6% to 10% of Americans are suffering from insomnia on a regular basis each year. Insomnia is
predominant
Among elderly people,
People with chronic medical illness, and
Those with anxiety or depressive disorders. In patients with cancer, insomnia is reported to be a
common problem.
The causes for insomnia in patients with cancer are related to psychological factors (anxiety or
depression), pain, treatment related toxicity, or other comorbid medical conditions.
Adverse impacts of insomnia:
If an individual does not get proper treatment, insomnia can lead to various adverse sequelae in
psychiatric, neurocognitive, and medical domains, as well as significant reduction in quality of life.
In addition, insomnia can lead to daytime dysfunction, such as daytime sleepiness, irritability,
depressive or anxious mood, and accidents.
Further, insomnia is linked with increased rates of depression, decreased quality of life, and increased
fatigue in other patient populations.
Symptoms and Factors Related to Insomnia:
Insomnia is among one of the most prevalent, distressing, and undermanaged symptoms. It is
associated with adverse outcomes and should be proactively targeted for intervention.
Often, sleep disturbances are associated with situational stresses such as illness, aging, and drug
treatments. However, the physical illness, pain, hospitalization, and medications, along with the

The Movie Industry, Hollywood And The Film Industry
Movie Industry/Hollywood
Hollywoodland, known as the most recognizable film industry in the world from the 1920 s to now,
slowly went from black and white silent movies to colorful motion pictures in the screens. This lead to
a major production of movies along the road and introduction to big world famous stars that helped
with the expansion of the entertainment business. Hollywood became an overnight success during the
1920 s by making improvements in the film and motion picture industry.
Some symbols of fame were developed as Hollywood kept growing along the way in the 1920 s such
as the Hollywood sign and the Walk of Fame. The Hollywood sign had a big meaning behind it. It

she never received remuneration. Although she did not get a star with her name on the Walk of Fame,

Dilantin Synthesis Lab Report
Abstract Dilantin is an antiepileptic drug by acting on the nervous system and this lab synthesized
pure Dilantin through a multistep process. The first step involves using the coenzyme, thiamine, as a
catalyst to synthesize benzoin. Benzoin is oxidized to benzil using NH4NO3 to regenerate amounts of
cupric acetate, followed by reaction with urea in a base to yield Dilantin. Experimental physical
properties and spectral data were analyzed to show relatively pure Dilantin synthesized. Introduction:
The purpose of this multistep lab is to synthesize the drug Dilantin, which is part of the hydantoins
family of drugs well known for their effects on the nervous system to reduce epileptic seizures.1 The
synthesis will require three steps, starting ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For benzil, the IR has sp3 C H, C=O and C=C aromatic stretch (Table 1) that correspond to the
literature6, however, there is also the presence of an O H peak that is not expected and is due to the
presence of unreacted benzoin. This helps to explain the low yield of Dilantin (20.9%) because not all
of the crude benzil would have reacted as some of it would have been benzoin. The Dilantin was
successfully synthesis as the final product showed N H, sp3 C H, C=O and C=C aromatic stretches
(Table 1) that correspond to the literature value6, but are less intense explained by the low yield. To
improve the yields of this multistep synthesis the procedure should be modified to allow a longer
reaction time to condense all of the benzaldehyde to benzoin in the first step as 1.5 h is not sufficient
as shown by the TLC. Furthermore, recrystallization should be performed after each synthetic step as
to remove impurities and potential side products that may

Idols, The Body And Walls
Idols, the Body Walls

I want to first thank my church family for the support I received this summer. The texts, emails, cards
and meals were a blessing to us. The kind prayers offered, the deep visits and quick hellos were all
beautiful outpourings of love and I want to say thank you publicly.
I have not been back to Uniontown for several reasons. The past 13 years of my life have been lived
pretty publicly as pastor s wife. This summer magnified the fishbowl like no other. That has been
excruciatingly painful. I have lost much this summer I had come to love the role of pastor s wife, full

A favorite quote of mine by Paul David Tripp, that has become very dear to me, is that God will not
protect us from that which he will perfect us through.
And while I am not claiming by any means to have arrived at some spiritual revelation of
completeness, I do feel I have a message/testimony to share with you, my family of believers. I have
prayed about this, and asked close friends to pray over this as well. I truly come to you humbly to
share what God has been speaking to my heart in this most difficult season of my life and perhaps it
will encourage, challenge and edify you as well. I want to share with you about idols, the body and
walls.
God graciously, yes, graciously and lovingly removed an idol in my life this summer. Yes, it was a
violent shattering to pieces of an idol I did not even know I had made of my husband. God very
quickly reminded me of many instances in scripture how many times He calls for idols to be destroyed
or abandoned for HIM. I have spent much time this summer reading and studying about idolatry.
Friends, God loves us too much for our hearts to become enslaved by idols that do not satisfy and do
not deserve our affection over Him!
One day, when I was literally face down on the floor in my bedroom in a puddle of tears crying out to
God, he gently reminded me of Abraham, walking his beloved son Isaac up the mountain. Do you
know what he was supposed to do at the top of that mountain? Sacrifice the very covenant son that

The characters were melodramatic and lively which them each captivating and intriguing in their own
way. Most of the characters were in the upper class of society and were stereotyped of their respective
characters. For example, Einstein and his wife were a snobbish upper class couple who were portrayed
as people who elegantly go through life sipping campaign, going to balls and having all of their needs
fulfilled by Adel, the stereotypical maid and housekeeper. Price Orlofsky was a regular snobbish
prince who was often never satisfied with anything going on around him. Frank was the typical large
and proud jail keeper. Dr. Falke was the typical revengeful antagonist who was plotting his revenge
throughout he elaborate plot. This brings to Einstein, the protagonist, who was played as the slightly
naive typical rich respected townsman. My response to how these characters were portrayed was that
they were done very well. They were done in a way that you could understand everything going on,
even with the large amounts of complex singing.
The acting in this Operetta was very well done. The actors spoke and carried themselves exactly like
the character they were playing would have acted. They all spoke with different voices, accents and
tonal patterns unique to their part. Many of the actors had to play different mini roles when they were
at the palace. The best example of this is Einstein s wife, Roselinda who had to speak and sing with a

Analysis Of Dvorak s Cello Concerto
Dvorak s Cello Concerto represents one of the most important repertoires in cello literature. It requires
the performers to have control over their technical ability and limitless of imagination in musicality in
orders to do a successful performance. Dvorak s cello concerto have always been one of the concertos

Compare And Contrast The Political Culture Of Texas
When looking at the diversity of Texas, it is hard to say that any one political culture would cover the
entire state. As large of a state as it is, a particular label would not suit everyone in the state, and
maybe even internally contradictory. Texas is home to a large, diverse population, literally, millions of
people in the second largest state within the United States of America. Among these people there is a
broad spectrum of races, ethnic backgrounds, economic interests and opinions. Some of these
differences are based upon need and economic status, but other differences are varied by the region of
the state. However, Texas political culture can easily be described using a few different philosophies;

liberal or conservative, but a group of their own, who have fought for things like subsidies for farmers,

shoulder. You re looking down at your harmed wrists. Looking down at them, realising that pain you
had given yourself, just isn t as surreal as it used to be. You re breathing heavily now, saying to
yourself It s time to go. Repeating those four words over and over again. School just couldn t have
been worse today, and of course your parents were yet again fighting around your wooden eight seater
dining table at breakfast today. You can t seem to find anyway out of your depression, you ve battled it
for years, striving for some kind of incentive. Maybe you were just looking for that serendipity that

No one is home, you believe it s the perfect opportunity. You take a deep breath and think if you don t

humourous. It s not, nobody is laughing and they re never going to.
You gather up the rope, the video camera and the chair because you re just that desperate to leave. You

Weapons of World War I Essay
There was a 17% difference in casualties from the Napoleonic Wars to World War I. This can be
credited mainly to the new weapons. There were many different weapons in World War I, whether
they were completely new or just variations and improvements of previous weapons. Some of the new
weapons included machine guns, mustard gas, Zeppelins, and planes, while some of the improved
weapons included the bolt action rifle, the Howitzer, and pistols. The innovative new weapons that
were introduced in World War I have forever changed the way wars were fought. World War I was the
bloodiest and most brutal battle at its time, and without all the new weapons, it might not have been.

The Germans had sent out U boats because they simply could no longer afford a purely defensive
naval strategy. The Germans were the first to use torpedoes in battle to make their U boats even more
deadly. A torpedo is self propelled underwater missile launched from a tube located on the deck or
inside the hull of a warship. Torpedo tubes were first built into submarines in 1885 by the Swedish
armaments manufacturer, Thortsen Nordenfelt. Torpedoes in 1914 carried a contact triggered
explosive warhead and had a range of 10,000 meters and could travel at 41 knots.1 However, their
ideal range was about a kilometer because they tended to be inaccurate over longer distances. The
Germans had definitely revolutionized naval with the introduction of their U boats. If it had not been
for them, there may not have been any good offensive weapons to use at sea. The Germans had
created much more powerful weapons by implementing torpedoes into their U boats. This was a very
smart idea by the Germans as it allowed them to catch many enemies off guard and be much more
successful at sea. It was smart of them to take a more offensive approach to naval battles instead of
their usual defensive approach. Not only was a new approach taken towards naval battle, but land
warfare was also highly improved. Land warfare was perhaps the most improved aspect of World War
I in terms of new weapons and combat strategies. Not

Early civilization of North America
Early civilization of North America With the discovery of America, several emigrants started moving
to this newly discovered land. As a result of this, numerous colonies were formed in America. The
Spanish settlers were the first to immigrate to America. They formed colonies in the West Indies,
Mexico and South America. On the other hand, English emigrants arrived to New England, Virginia
and other parts of America, which later formed the United States. Immigration to the New World took
pace in the early 1600s and grew from a group of few hundred colonists to a flood of millions of
newcomers. These new settlers started building a new civilization in the northern region. Immigration
of English settlers started long after the settlement of Spaniards in South America and Mexico.
Majority of the English colonists were those who escaped their homeland to avoid political coercion,
to practice their religions with freedom and to explore new opportunities that were absent in their
homeland. It was the time when England was facing an economic depression and job opportunities
were rare even for skilled people. Immigration of English and other European settlers was primary due
to the political instability in their homeland. The instable regime of Charles I forced many English
people to move to the New World. In addition to this, the repressive policies of rulers in other parts of
Europe and the destruction because of several wars played a major role in encouraging Europeans to

This research paper focuses on how IT audits are done and how they can help in assisting an
organization in its regulatory compliance effort by identifying information security weaknesses prior
to an external audit. The key players and their roles are defined, as well as organizational, results
based, point in time systems and extended period audits. This leads to a natural question. In this new
world of connected GRC, what is the role of internal audit compared to compliance? Where do these
roles remain separate and where do they share responsibilities? How can these professionals work
together to drive business value?
This paper can help in understanding how the board, management, and internal audit each have a
significant role in ensuring information security is effective. We can learn that internal auditing can
also help prepare the organization for an external regulatory audit (SOX or HIPAA, for example) by
evaluating management s efforts and providing recommendations for improvement prior to the
external audit. This can help in understanding that IT security audits contribute to an organization s
regulatory compliance efforts by confirming to senior management and

Inclusion of Games in National Education Curriculum Essay
Inclusion of Games in National Education Curriculum
The inclusion of games in the national curriculum for physical education, provide children with a wide
range of benefits, which can lead to increased physical and mental development through sport. Team
games have recently been emphasised in the national curriculum, with a privileged status for games
establishing within the activity based framework of the national curriculum (Williams, 2000). It is a

Key stage 1 states that pupils should be taught that regular exercise improves health and how one
feels. In order to encourage children to further participate in physical activity, the child s experience
must be an enjoyable one. It is no use taking a large group of children and have them running around a
gym with no real aim or objective. This is reflected in key stage 2 when it states that children should
be taught that exercise can be fun and sociable. Williams (2000), states that P.E experiences need to be
fun, exciting, challenging and rewarding. Games can provide children with a variety of enjoyable and
challenging experiences, including working as a team member, appropriate competition and a variety
of different game situations. There is the argument however that time allocation for physical education
in schools is not enough to improve the physical fitness of a child. Siedentop (1994) states that time is
always limited, and students should get as much successful experience as possible. Although time
scale is restricted, if the experience is enjoyable, then it may lead to children seeking further
opportunities in sport.
As well as developing and encouraging a physically active lifestyle, games is

Juveniles Tried As Adults With Criminal Justice System
Juveniles Tried as Adults in Criminal Court Approximately two million adolescents a year are arrested
and out of that two million, 60,000 of them are incarcerated according to the American Journal of
Public Health. The 60,000 incarcerated adolescents each year are being tried as adults in court because
of the serious crimes they have committed. The crimes they have committed are anything from armed
robbery to murder. Some juveniles might be first time offenders and others might be repeat offenders.
Crimes have always been a major issue in the United States and can cause controversy in the criminal
justice system. Charging a minor as an adult in criminal court varies from state to state based on each
state s jurisdiction. Some states consider anyone up to the age of 18 still a juvenile and would not be
charged as an adult in criminal court, but other states may charge a juvenile as an adult at the age of 16
or 17. Jordan (2014) states, Although states already had methods for transferring youth to the adult
system, as a result of the growing fear of juvenile violence, most states implemented new laws to
increase the number of youth entering the adult criminal system (Bernard Kurlychek, 2010; Torbet et
al., 1996) (p. 315). While it sounds beneficial to incarcerate more adolescents in the adult criminal
justice system to avoid juveniles from committing crimes in the future, that is not always the case.
Incarcerating these juveniles can be life changing in a negative

William Shakespeare s Sonnet 64
Sonnets hold more detail and depth than can be easily noted in a first reading. Due to their strict
structure and short length, a lot of thought must be put into the words chosen by the poets. Edmund
Spenser and William Shakespeare exemplify the idea of sonnet diction being a vital part of the poem.
This is especially true in the cases of Shakespeare s Sonnet 130 and Spenser s Sonnet 64. Both sonnets
feature a strong focus on a female beloved and her appearance. The two authors have different
approaches in how they describe her looks, but the overall structure of the sonnets are very similar. In
both cases, each word in the two sonnets means something more than the word alone first implies. It is
not hard to see that Spenser in Sonnet 64 is deeply in love with his beloved and greatly admires her
physical appearance. At first glance, one might think that Shakespeare in Sonnet 130 does not seem to
think his beloved beautiful since he lists off all the things that are not beautiful about her. However,
the beloved is admired by them both, simply in different ways. Spenser idealizes his beloved by
comparing her to beautiful and natural things and by using smell to describe her beauty. Shakespeare,
on the other hand, does not idealize his beloved; instead, he is honest about her, which may appear as
a negative description, but is actually also describing how much he admires her. Despite these things,
there is something to the way Shakespeare describes his beloved that is very

Alan Moore And Dave Gibbons
Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons Watchmen illustrates the lives of retired superheroes in the 1980s. The
Keene Act outlawed the masquerading of superheroes in the 1970s and led to the dissolution of many
superheroes. The murder of an old colleague, The Comedian, forces them to come out of retirement
and sets the events of the graphic novel into place. Moore and Gibbons sets up a world of superheroes
in the midst of a very real historical period of the Cold War. We usually think of superheroes as
existing in a fictional place, with an altered history. However, the novel references President Nixon,

Richard Nixon is running for another term. Superheroes have influenced how the time period will turn
out because of they are the ones who change the events in history, both for and against us. The
presence of Dr. Manhattan makes it easier for the United States government to accomplish their
military goals, for example. In real life, a weapon that the United States or any country, for that matter,

the solution to any future problems or discussions. The inclusion of superheroes means we must

However, because Yeats does not have debt, the second half of this formula, Rd(D/V)(1 t) is not
necessary. Being that Yeats has zero debt, the value of its equity is in full, which represents its
Enterprise Value. Tax (t) is determined in the case as 40% or .40 (p. 5).
We must then calculate the CAPM for the cost of equity (see Excel sheet for details):
Re = Rf + Beta (Rm Rf)
Re = Required Return on Equity
Rf = Risk Free Rate = 5.98 (p. 16)
Beta = Measure of Risk relative to the general market (volatility) = 1.5 (p. 5)
Rm Rf = Equity Market Risk Premium (EMRP) = 5.5 (p. 16)
Rm = Market Risk
Rf = Risk Free Assets (U.S. treasury security)
With Beta at 1, the stock price changes in precise tandem with the market, but with Yeat s beta at 1.5,
it is more risky than a group of peer stocks.
Thus,
Re = Rf + Beta (Rm Rf)
Re = 5.98 + 1.5 x 5.5
Re = 14.23%, the cost of equity at for Yeats
Then calculate
WACC = Re

Multiculturalism In American Schools
As discussed in our lecture, when we debated the various positions that Arthur Schlesinger took on in
terms of teaching multiculturalism in American schools. He was not wholly against the teaching of
multiculturalism, however, he did not advocate for teaching multiculturalism at a young age, when
children are sensitive to learning about the identity of themselves and others. He believes that every
culture has their own history and their own historical perspective, but he believes that in American
society, there is only one way to teach multiculturalism as to make sure that Americans stay unified,
and children understand their roles as Americans. Of course, by other scholars, this perspective was to
be disputed. By teaching American history through one historical perspective, it can leave out and
sugar coat many crucial details about other historical perspectives and overlook the details of struggles
of other persons involved and their contribution to American history.

3d Printers And Its Effects On The World s Vision
3D Printers The technologies are being developed quickly and change the world s vision. 3D printing
is the innovation that will make the further breakthrough and turn the world upside down. One can
print everything, starting from the plastic figures finishing with the tools, clothes, bicycles, weapon,
and human body organs using the stem cells. Moreover, there are the printers that are capable of
replicating itself. Three dimensional printing transforms the computer model of the object into a really
existing one applying many thin layers that are programmed on the computer. This type of printing
creates an impression of the objects appearing from nowhere. The modern printers can print from a
number of the materials. Most printers print in a material called polylactic acid, which is a non toxic
bioplastic often derived form corn and is the same material that compostable cutlery and coffee cup
lids are often made from. (Guide to 3D Printers). However, it is possible to create objects from the
metal powder, biomass, food substances, and the others. A big choice of the target materials broadens
the capability of the printing endlessly. The above mentioned technological innovation can be applied
in the medicine. The Princeton University managed to print an ear by means of biomass with a high
quantity of the stem cells that are capable of transforming into the cartilaginous tissue. It is not a full
fledged ear but a tool for detection of the radio waves. The scientists tried

How Is Jay Gatsby A Great Person
Although many people in the novel never know who Jay Gatsby was, many people looked up to him
as a great man with good intensions. The novel Great Gatsby is about Jay Gatsby s undying love for

Jackson Vs Perseus
The story Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief and the Olympians is a similar modern day telling to
the Danaüs, Perseus and the Gorgon through events, archetypes and theme.
The two heroes in these story go through very similar events. Both Percy Jackson and Perseus fight
medusa but in different scenarios. In the text of Perseus s story it says, Perseus swooped down, and
with one deft stroke he cut off the Medusa s head. (D aulaires, 118) In Percy Jackson and the
Lightning Thief, Percy Jackson and his friends fight Medusa in a garden store that is filled with
statues. (Percy Jackson) This modernizes the older story because it is more realistic that Medusa
would hide in an area full of statues, since Medusa turns people into stone it is a good hiding place for
her. They both saved their mom from an evil/bad man. In the text it said, As soon as the king had
gotten rid of Perseus, he had tired to carry Danaë. (D aulaires, 120) In Percy Jackson and the
Lightning Thief this was modernized, Percy Jackson protects his mom from Gabe being a huge jerk.

Luke Aikins Research Paper

With more than 16,000 jumps to his credit, professional skydiver Luke Aikins has performed many
heart stopping stunts, but his latest feat tops them all. On July 30, 2016, the 42 year old daredevil
became the first man in the world to leap off a plane from an altitude of 25,000 feet without a wingsuit
or parachute! Instead, he relied on a net that measured 100 by 100 feet, or less than one third the size
of a football field, to break his fall and help him land safely.
The stunt, aptly named Heaven Sent, was so dangerous that the United States Parachute Association
(USPA) initially denied the skydiver s request to jump without a parachute. However, the association
had a change of heart just minutes before the event, which meant that Akins had no backup during the
historic leap. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

ground, face first, with his arms outstretched. At about 10,000 feet, the skydiver handed his oxygen
mask to one of two team members who were doing the jump as well. They, of course, had

A New Alternative Market Of Tourism Essay
Volunteer tourism also known as Voluntourism is part of a new alternative market of tourism. It
consists of tourists taking part in volunteer oppportunities while they go on vacation, usually in a
developing country. (Hanson Pastran 2014) While this sounds like a positive idea, and it can be, it is
important to consider the efficacy (or lack thereof) of voluntourism, and the fact that it could
potentially perpetuate more harm than good. It can be hard to believe that a concept like voluntourism
that was supposedly built on the premises of helping people could be a negative concept. It isn t
always negative, it can in fact be beneficial when it is done in a correct manner. However, in this paper
I will be arguing that despite some of the cases in which voluntourism has proven to be effective and
beneficial, there are numerous ways in which it can be not only ineffective but also harmful. The harm
is not caused through the physical volunteer work itself, but instead through the negative stereotypes
of the Global South that are perpetuated by the agencies that organize these volunteer trips, as well as
the neocolonialist tendencies that are displayed by those volunteer agencies by Me to We in particular.
The neocolonialism is evident through not only the actions of the organizers of the trips, but also
through the marketing for Me to We. By perpetuating these kinds of messages in their advertising,
harm is done to the impressionable youth that are exposed to this. The

How Can Relationships Benefit From Enhanced Trust
Which of my important relationships would benefit from enhanced trust?
The relationship I have with my family, specifically my dad would be better with enhanced trust. For
about six years my dad did not live with the rest of the family in Canada, instead he lived in Nigeria.
My parents were not divorced, but he wanted to live in Nigeria while we wanted to live in Canada. We
would visit him on and off like during the summer and he would come here to Canada and stay for a

things have changed around the house. Our routine is completely different and it s hard to keep track.

kant Essay
Kants Critiques of Pure reason and Groundwork of the Metaphysics
Kant states that, In the order of time, therefore, we have no knowledge antecedent to experience, and
with experience all our knowledge begins, but although all of our knowledge begins with experience,
it does not follow that it all arises out of experience, (CPR,41). What he means is that we do not rely
on experience inorder to have knowledge, but knowledge and experience are connected for to have
knowledge we must begin with experience. There are four types of knowledge that Kant deduced. A
priori, which is knowledge that is independent of experience, knowledge which is always true, does
not rely on a person to experience it inorder for one to realize that it is true. A ... Show more content

Kant affirms that, Judgments of experience, as such, are one and all synthetic, (CPR, 49). This makes
sense because it would not make sense to found an analytic judgment on experience.
Kant thinks that the general problem of pure reason is contained in the question: How are apriori
synthetic judgments possible? Kant postulates that if he is able to figure out or understand the
conditions in which the sciences are possible to exist he can also figure out the conditions of which a
priori synthetic judgments can exist. Kant defines pure reason as, that which contains the principles
whereby we know anything absolutely a priori. Phenomena is an object as it is perceived by the
senses, as opposed to a noumena which is an object as it is in itself independent of the mind (the thing
in itself).
Rational beings may align their quot;will quot; either with the objective laws of reason and morality or
with subjective needs and interests. Reason s demands may be called quot;imperatives. quot;
quot;Hypothetical imperatives quot; command that a particular action is necessary as a means to some
purpose, such as the attainment of personal happiness. Categorical imperatives require that some
action is necessary in and of itself. Thus the categorical imperative may be formulated as follows: act
only in such a way that you could want the maxim of your action to become a universal law. This

This helps to combat any weight issues. The senior dog food also contains more fiber for the different
needs in your dog s diet. As dogs age, they tend to suffer from constipation. This extra fiber will help
remedy this problem.
Renal failure can be another medical problem for senior dogs. How can your dog s diet help this
problem? Reducing the amount of protein in your dog s diet will decrease the work load for the
kidneys. For this reason, senior dog food frequently has lower protein content than regular adult
formulas.
Whenever possible, allow your dog to eat dry dog food to encourage excellent dental health. The dry
kibble helps to reduce plaque and tartar buildup. If your older pet refuses to eat the food dry, you may
need to moisten it with water or purchase moist, canned varieties.
If your vet recommends, supplements may be helpful as part of your senior dog s diet. Some pets are
unable to eat properly due to oral issues. Other older pets are unable to gather all of the nutrients from
their food for various health reasons. Supplements such as daily vitamins and glucosamine can be

Evaluation Of The Paediatric Neurosurgical Patient
Key Points
1. Approach to the paediatric neurosurgical patient is different because of age related changes in
neurophysiology and cranial development.
2. The signs and symptoms of raised intracranial pressure in paediatric neurosurgical cases are age
specific.
3. Blood loss due to surgery or tumor bleed into the cavity constitutes a major fraction of total blood
volume in the paediatric population.
4. Capnography is the most feasible and safer method to monitor venous air embolism in children.
Introduction
The majority of tumors (60 70%) in pediatric age group occur in the posterior fossa. The reason
behind propensity to occur in the posterior fossa has not been elucidated till date. Lesion in the
posterior fossa may be neoplastic, developmental and vascular processes requiring surgical
intervention. By far, the most common posterior fossa tumors of childhood are medulloblastomas,
ependymomas and astrocytomas. Medulloblastomas are the most common malignant brain tumor in
children comprising 20% to 25% of all pediatric brain tumors. The median age at diagnosis is
approximately 6 to 9 years. Most of tumors occur in midline and frequently found associated with
hydrocephalus. Success with surgical intervention has become possible because of improved
understanding of physiology, advances in imaging and microsurgical techniques, excellent anaesthetic
techniques available, advances in perioperative care of the patient. These in turn have improved the

Obstructive Sleep Apnea Analysis
Obesity is established as one of the leading risk factors for development of both type 2 diabetes and
obstructive sleep Apnea(OSA). Obesity is medically defined as a complex disorder involving an

numerical range is 30.0 34.9 is consider obese (1) 35.0 39.9 obese (2), finally 40.0 above is extreme

factors are cardiovascular disease, and hypertension. Most likely a patient will develop a serious
sleeping disorder, one called obstructive sleep apnea(OSA). This causes breathing to repeatedly stop
and start during sleep. The throat muscles intermittently relax and block the airway during sleeping.
Several signs of sleep apnea exist for example; loud snoring, shorter sleeping duration, poor quality of
sleep, high blood pressure, morning headaches, decrease libido, weight gain, and even death due to
lack of air. Polysomnography is medically performed to evaluate the presence of OSA and its severity.

worried about the well being of these producers, we need to directly address the imbalances in the

According the Jaffee, through his research and findings, when helping the fair trade coffee bean
producers it untimely comes down to the long term goal of these companies, if it is to simply increase
their market and gain consumers or to actually transform the international fair trade market. An
example of the northern power Jaffee gave was in a case where they pushed the mass production of a

Computer Security And Information Assurance
The academic disciplines of computer security and information assurance emerged along with
numerous professional organizations all sharing the common goals of ensuring the security and
reliability of information systems. ROT5 is a practice similar to ROT13 that applies to numeric digits
(0 to 9). ROT13 and ROT5 can be used together in the same message. ROT47 is a derivative of
ROT13 which, in addition to scrambling the basic letters, also treats numbers and common symbols.
Instead of using the sequence A Z as the alphabet, ROT47 uses a larger set of characters from the
common character encoding known as ASCII. Specifically, the 7 bit printable characters, excluding
space from decimal 33 ! through 126 ~ , 94 in total, taken in the order of the numerical values of their
ASCII codes, are rotated by 47 positions, without special consideration to case. For example, the
character A is mapped to p, while a is mapped to 2. The use of a larger alphabet produces an
obfuscation than that of ROT13; for example, a telephone number such as +1(positive) (negative)415
(negative)839 (negative)6885 is not obvious at first sight from the scrambled result Z`c`dgbheggd. On
the other hand, because ROT47 introduces numbers and symbols into the mix without discrimination,
it is more immediately obvious that the text has been enciphered. The Mora Brothers felt that the
Constitution guaranteed basic privacy and confidentiality, they also saw this being tossed out the

Financial Reporting Model And Internal Service Funds

Igbo Women In Chinua Achebe s Things Fall Apart
Chinua Achebe s Things Fall Apart, depicted the culture of the Igbo as well as the roles that men and
women held within the traditional Igbo society. Women were primarily known as the weaker sex ,
therefore they were considered to be submissive and viewed as property among the Igbo clan. Unlike
women, Igbo men were expected to be aggressive, gain individual titles and to provide order in the
clan. Within the Igbo society, women were expected to be submissive toward men, especially their
husbands. When women failed to provide for their husbands, they were disrespected and abused. For
example, Okonkwo s youngest wife did not return home at the correct time to cook the afternoon
meal, which caused him to become angered. He walked back to his obi to await Ojiugo s return. And
when she returned he beat her very heavily (29). I believe the beatings were executed as a way for
men to show their dominance toward women, which led Igbo women to fear the power that their

The Island Of Dr Moreau Summary
In the excerpt of The Island of Dr. Moreau a conversation about how Dr. Moreau s studies are absurd
and inhuman and Dr. Moreau defends his work with benefits it has. Prendick has a better argument
then the doctor only because I think the doctors Vivisection work is inhuman and is wrong in so many
angles. I do not agree because moral practices are important because vivisection crazy.
Later on in the excerpt, he goes on about a certain type of animal with human characteristics. He
explains with a Vivisection is experimental surgery to animals by changing the way they look. Moving
body parts around making animals look into monsters. He tries to portray it as a good science but
Prendick impacts my thoughts on this with terms such as monster and things making it not a normal
creature anymore seen on pages 230. It tells me that these animals do not look the same anymore. So
this surgery they are doing is not saving the animal it is harming the animal. This type of work is
inhuman to the fact that they are testing something that isn t beneficial for the animal or mankind it is
just testing to what can happen. That is insane to cause harm to a living creature to experiment for no
greater cause. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This makes Prendick uneasy and you can tell by some things the doctor says he does not really have
strict morals like in this quote he says what we call moral education is such an artificial modification
and perversion of instinct (Wells 230). This quote makes me cringe in the fact that he has this idea of
how morals are not real in a sense since something like mindlessly harming innocent animals to makes
them look different is inhuman but he doesn t think that since he has no morals. This just gives me
more reasons to not agree with the doctor because of our differences in moral and human

Review Of Vampire Bats
1. Vampire bats give blood to unrelated vampire bats for several reasons. Among the reasons are the
cost sharing of blood, the benefit of sharing blood and the probability that the bats that were given
blood will in turn reciprocate and give blood to other bats at a later date. The cooperative equilibria in
blood sharing among bats means that the sharing of blood will occur if the benefits of sharing blood
multiplied by the probability that blood sharing will be beneficial in the future is greater than the cost
of sharing blood. If a bat shares blood with another bat (even an unrelated bat), the bat that is the
recipient is expected to donate blood to other bats at a larger rate than it received at a later time.
A donor bat will give blood to a bat that has not had a meal so that this bat can have the opportunity to
hunt again, giving an increased chance that it will reciprocate to another bat that has not had a meal,
enabling the roost to maintain survival. In the event that a recipient bat does not reciprocate in the
future, that bat will not be donated to if it needs it in the future, thus allowing for recipient bats to be
donor bats in the future as needed.
2. In the Berg, Dickhaut and McCabe (1995) study, factors that influence the likelihood of trust in
economic transactions is a fundamental assumption that individuals act in their own self interest which
is often combined with other assumptions that (1) objects of interest are restricted to personal
consumption;

Medus The Myth Of Medusa

Medusa
The myth of Medusa is one of the most told myths throughout history. It seems like a simple idea of
how society perceives ugliness. The myth may be saying that truly hideous people deserved the
monstrous things that are coming to them, yet there is more to the story and image of this woman.
People have to look into what happened to her that society perceives her as hideous.Society has to
think about whose fault was it for her becoming a monster. People should look into the true meaning
of Medusa. Medusa has a strong impact on Greek society mythology too? with her features, the colors
of those features, her gender, and the power she held. Her image and myth is ... Show more content on

There are some images that one can use to show Medusa, so it depends on what one wants to talk
about. The image I picked is of Medusa s head cut off on a shield (Gill, N.S.). The problem here is that
Medusa does not look that ugly. In most pictures, Medusa just looks like a beautiful woman who has
snake for her hair. It seems strange that society and history remember her as ugly. One reason is
because of the snakes in her hair. Images show that her hair is full of many snakes. On her head, is
looks to be multiple kinds of snake. Some snakes look to be dice snakes, Natrix Tessellate, which are
venomous snakes found in Europe (McLaren, John). People hate snakes and fear them. In many
cultures such as Christianity, snakes are evil. Satan took the form of one in the Garden of Eve to
seduce Adam and Eve to commit sin. It works and mankind is driven out of the Garden forever ( Are
snakes evil? Does the Bible say anything about snakes? ). The image of a snake makes many shiver in
fear of it. Most of the Greek myths show snakes in a distrustful manner. Most of Ancient Greek
believed that snakes were liars and intelligent, but not to trust them.
Medusa is an important goddess used a lot in Greek female myths. In Greek myths, her hair which is
of snakes can show the symbolism of snakes. Snakes were said to have shown the natural cycle of
birth, death, and rebirth. In Greek myths the shedding of their skins and by getting new skin it shows
rebirth. The shredding of the snakes

This was an example of Folkways because in the first segment of the eight, the natives showed talked about how they do stuff in their island. While they were talking about coming to the U.S., I saw the way they were all dressed by only covering their groin area and having the rest of their body exposed especially their buttocks. Even the women only had their groin area cover not even the breast area was cover. While they were getting ready to come to America, they realized that they would have to wear clothes to cover their whole body and they were not use to that and the other natives were laughing. This is part of a Folkway because it shows the way their culture is and how they live day to day. 2. This is an example of Non material Culture because in all the segments, you can see that when the Natives talk about how they have chickens and a few pigs that they own and that they feed off of the plants or stuff that they grow in the garden. Their custom idea that they have in their culture is to have joy and peace and love. 3. This is a example of Cultural Diffusion because when the Natives arrive to the ranch in Montana that they will be staying at for a while in segment 2 and 3, they see how the couple in Montana has different cultural elements than they do because the women just don t do all the cooking, the men also help out the grown women told ... She was known for inventing signaling devices for cars in 1914. One of these devices worked as cars turning signals, moving a flag up or down depending on the direction of the turn. The other known device was a stop sign that would pop up whenever the brake pedal was pushed. • 5. Dilantin Synthesis Lab Report Abstract Dilantin is an antiepileptic drug by acting on the nervous system and this lab synthesized pure Dilantin through a multistep process. The first step involves using the coenzyme, thiamine, as a catalyst to synthesize benzoin. Benzoin is oxidized to benzil using NH4NO3 to regenerate amounts of cupric acetate, followed by reaction with urea in a base to yield Dilantin. Experimental physical properties and spectral data were analyzed to show relatively pure Dilantin synthesized. Introduction: The purpose of this multistep lab is to synthesize the drug Dilantin, which is part of the hydantoins family of drugs well known for their effects on the nervous system to reduce epileptic seizures.1 The synthesis will require three steps, starting ... For benzil, the IR has sp3 C H, C=O and C=C aromatic stretch (Table 1) that correspond to the literature6, however, there is also the presence of an O H peak that is not expected and is due to the presence of unreacted benzoin. This helps to explain the low yield of Dilantin (20.9%) because not all of the crude benzil would have reacted as some of it would have been benzoin. The Dilantin was successfully synthesis as the final product showed N H, sp3 C H, C=O and C=C aromatic stretches (Table 1) that correspond to the literature value6, but are less intense explained by the low yield. To improve the yields of this multistep synthesis the procedure should be modified to allow a longer reaction time to condense all of the benzaldehyde to benzoin in the first step as 1.5 h is not sufficient as shown by the TLC. Furthermore, recrystallization should be performed after each synthetic step as to remove impurities and potential side products that may ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Yes, it was a violent shattering to pieces of an idol I did not even know I had made of my husband. God very quickly reminded me of many instances in scripture how many times He calls for idols to be destroyed or abandoned for HIM. I have spent much time this summer reading and studying about idolatry. Friends, God loves us too much for our hearts to become enslaved by idols that do not satisfy and do not deserve our affection over Him! One day, when I was literally face down on the floor in my bedroom in a puddle of tears crying out to God, he gently reminded me of Abraham, walking his beloved son Isaac up the mountain. On the other hand, English emigrants arrived to New England, Virginia and other parts of America, which later formed the United States. Due to their strict structure and short length, a lot of thought must be put into the words chosen by the poets. Edmund Spenser and William Shakespeare exemplify the idea of sonnet diction being a vital part of the poem. This is especially true in the cases of Shakespeare s Sonnet 130 and Spenser s Sonnet 64. Both sonnets feature a strong focus on a female beloved and her appearance. The two authors have different approaches in how they describe her looks, but the overall structure of the sonnets are very similar. In both cases, each word in the two sonnets means something more than the word alone first implies. It is not hard to see that Spenser in Sonnet 64 is deeply in love with his beloved and greatly admires her physical appearance. At first glance, one might think that Shakespeare in Sonnet 130 does not seem to think his beloved beautiful since he lists off all the things that are not beautiful about her. However, the beloved is admired by them both, simply in different ways. Spenser idealizes his beloved by comparing her to beautiful and natural things and by using smell to describe her beauty. • 26. Luke Aikins Research Paper Photo Credit: strideheavensent.tumblr.com With more than 16,000 jumps to his credit, professional skydiver Luke Aikins has performed many heart stopping stunts, but his latest feat tops them all. On July 30, 2016, the 42 year old daredevil became the first man in the world to leap off a plane from an altitude of 25,000 feet without a wingsuit or parachute! Instead, he relied on a net that measured 100 by 100 feet, or less than one third the size of a football field, to break his fall and help him land safely. The stunt, aptly named Heaven Sent, was so dangerous that the United States Parachute Association (USPA) initially denied the skydiver s request to jump without a parachute. However, the association had a change of heart just minutes before the event, which meant that Akins had no backup during the historic leap. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 27. A New Alternative Market Of Tourism Essay Volunteer tourism also known as Voluntourism is part of a new alternative market of tourism. It consists of tourists taking part in volunteer oppportunities while they go on vacation, usually in a developing country. (Hanson Pastran 2014) While this sounds like a positive idea, and it can be, it is important to consider the efficacy (or lack thereof) of voluntourism, and the fact that it could potentially perpetuate more harm than good. It can be hard to believe that a concept like voluntourism that was supposedly built on the premises of helping people could be a negative concept. It isn t always negative, it can in fact be beneficial when it is done in a correct manner. However, in this paper I will be arguing that despite some of the cases in which voluntourism has proven to be effective and beneficial, there are numerous ways in which it can be not only ineffective but also harmful. The harm is not caused through the physical volunteer work itself, but instead through the negative stereotypes of the Global South that are perpetuated by the agencies that organize these volunteer trips, as well as the neocolonialist tendencies that are displayed by those volunteer agencies by Me to We in particular. The neocolonialism is evident through not only the actions of the organizers of the trips, but also through the marketing for Me to We. By perpetuating these kinds of messages in their advertising, harm is done to the impressionable youth that are exposed to this. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

What he means is that we do not rely on experience inorder to have knowledge, but knowledge and experience are connected for to have knowledge we must begin with experience. There are four types of knowledge that Kant deduced. A priori, which is knowledge that is independent of experience, knowledge which is always true, does not rely on a person to experience it inorder for one to realize that it is true. A ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Kant affirms that, Judgments of experience, as such, are one and all synthetic, (CPR, 49). This makes sense because it would not make sense to found an analytic judgment on experience. Kant thinks that the general problem of pure reason is contained in the question: How are apriori synthetic judgments possible? Kant postulates that if he is able to figure out or understand the conditions in which the sciences are possible to exist he can also figure out the conditions of which a priori synthetic judgments can exist. Kant defines pure reason as, that which contains the principles whereby we know anything absolutely a priori. Phenomena is an object as it is perceived by the senses, as opposed to a noumena which is an object as it is in itself independent of the mind (the thing in itself). Rational beings may align their quot;will quot; either with the objective laws of reason and morality or with subjective needs and interests. Reason s demands may be called quot;imperatives. quot; quot;Hypothetical imperatives quot; command that a particular action is necessary as a means to some purpose, such as the attainment of personal happiness. Categorical imperatives require that some action is necessary in and of itself. Computer Security And Information Assurance The academic disciplines of computer security and information assurance emerged along with numerous professional organizations all sharing the common goals of ensuring the security and reliability of information systems. ROT5 is a practice similar to ROT13 that applies to numeric digits (0 to 9). ROT13 and ROT5 can be used together in the same message. ROT47 is a derivative of ROT13 which, in addition to scrambling the basic letters, also treats numbers and common symbols. Instead of using the sequence A Z as the alphabet, ROT47 uses a larger set of characters from the common character encoding known as ASCII. Specifically, the 7 bit printable characters, excluding space from decimal 33 ! through 126 ~ , 94 in total, taken in the order of the numerical values of their ASCII codes, are rotated by 47 positions, without special consideration to case. For example, the character A is mapped to p, while a is mapped to 2. Within the Igbo society, women were expected to be submissive toward men, especially their husbands. When women failed to provide for their husbands, they were disrespected and abused. • 44. Review Of Vampire Bats 1. Vampire bats give blood to unrelated vampire bats for several reasons. Among the reasons are the cost sharing of blood, the benefit of sharing blood and the probability that the bats that were given blood will in turn reciprocate and give blood to other bats at a later date. The cooperative equilibria in blood sharing among bats means that the sharing of blood will occur if the benefits of sharing blood multiplied by the probability that blood sharing will be beneficial in the future is greater than the cost of sharing blood. If a bat shares blood with another bat (even an unrelated bat), the bat that is the recipient is expected to donate blood to other bats at a larger rate than it received at a later time. A donor bat will give blood to a bat that has not had a meal so that this bat can have the opportunity to hunt again, giving an increased chance that it will reciprocate to another bat that has not had a meal, enabling the roost to maintain survival. In the event that a recipient bat does not reciprocate in the future, that bat will not be donated to if it needs it in the future, thus allowing for recipient bats to be donor bats in the future as needed. 2. Images show that her hair is full of many snakes. On her head, is looks to be multiple kinds of snake. Some snakes look to be dice snakes, Natrix Tessellate, which are venomous snakes found in Europe (McLaren, John). People hate snakes and fear them. In many cultures such as Christianity, snakes are evil. Satan took the form of one in the Garden of Eve to seduce Adam and Eve to commit sin.
