AS to A2
At AS,I usedQuantitive research formymusicmagazine byincludingthe responsesfromapaper
questionnaire intopie charts. The effectof thisshowsme visuallywhatthe averageswere. However,
my questionswerenotuseful toimprove from.Mostof the questionswere eitheryesorno
responsessothatmeansI mostlyusedclosedquestions.Closedquestionsare goodfora clear
response.A goodtechnique Icouldhave usedwasusing“andwhy?”for a more elaboratedanswer.
ThismeansI can improve fromthe response.
I askedsome openquestionstoolike“Whatdoyou like the most?”Thisquestiondidnotgive any
optionstochoose frombecause I wantedmyaudience to pickoutthe codesandconventions that
theyliked.Mostof my audience said“the colourscheme”
If I were todo thisprojectagainI wouldinclude afocusgroupfor mymagazine.ThiswayI can have
detailedresponsesandaskfollowupquestions.Italsohelpsthe audience astheycan askfor
clarification.
To remember:
Doingquestionnaireshelpswiththe feedbackforourproductssowe learnto improve onthe
conventionsthatlackquality.Tomake questionnaireswe needtoremembertogive arange of open
and closedquestions.Tohelpthis,we canalsoprovide options(suchasStronglyagree,agree,
disagree, stronglydisagree) andonlygive fourof these answerssothatthe audience isnot
constantlytemptedtopickthe middle option. We needtobe considerate tothe audience by
avoidingcomplexterminology.Butwe canovercome thisbyincreasingthe levelof difficulty
throughoutthe questionnaire. We needtomake the questionnaire enjoyableaswell soour
audience givespositive aswell asnegativefeedback.
We needtoknowthat doing a questionnaire isaboutusingthe maximuminformationwiththe
