Personal Statement The position I currently hold is a Human Resource Generalist, and although I deal with issues on a regular basis, my goal is to improve my skills in all areas.  The character traits I hold are the ones I can develop in an organization in order to reach my true potential. My strength is employee relations issues, because I am able to adapt to other individuals’ style of communication.   Integrity is a big part of my life already, because I grew up with doing what I say I will do.  I have always been optimistic because I see the positive side in most situations.  As a leader, have the ability to see what lies inside and outside the box as well as overlooked opportunities.  Embracing change is something that every organization deals with some time or another.  When technology advances, it is a challenge for me, because I strive in understanding all aspects of it.  My main goal is to implement change smoothly along with analyzing the potential risks that may cause resistance.  The reason for this is to implement a plan that would be in place to address the different levels of resistance. An area I am most interested at improving is developing front line managers into the leaders in an organization.      I have had the pleasure in serving on the following boards: ,[object Object]

Parent Teacher Student Association at I.W. High School for 2010- current

5 year goals: M.A in Industrial Organizational Psychology & Senior Professional in Human Resources certification ,[object Object]
Reflection My oral skills are much stronger than my written skills. But I can happily say that I almost mastered APA.  In the beginning of my term with Argosy, I had a difficult time when I wrote my papers.  Based on the SSAL I have some items I need to work on when it comes to emphasizing Psychological policies and procedures.  The papers I chose had not discussed the ethics that involve psychology.

Communication Skills (cont.) English-Only Policy Disadvantages Risk of harassment by others Misunderstanding for having an English Only policy Controversy amongst internal and external customers  Not consistent with future diversity trends
Communication Skills (cont.) Hand Out Title VII permits employers to adopt English-only rules under certain circumstances. As with any other workplace policy, an English-only rule must be adopted for nondiscriminatory reasons. Title VII of the Civil Rights Act prohibits employment discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex and national origin.  English-only policies may constitute discrimination based on national origin. There are alternatives to an English-only policy, such as  policies pertaining to professional conduct and using team-building activities to improve communication among employees.

  • 8. Reflection My oral skills are much stronger than my written skills. But I can happily say that I almost mastered APA. In the beginning of my term with Argosy, I had a difficult time when I wrote my papers. Based on the SSAL I have some items I need to work on when it comes to emphasizing Psychological policies and procedures. The papers I chose had not discussed the ethics that involve psychology.

  • 27. Communication Skills (cont.) Hand Out Title VII permits employers to adopt English-only rules under certain circumstances. As with any other workplace policy, an English-only rule must be adopted for nondiscriminatory reasons. Title VII of the Civil Rights Act prohibits employment discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex and national origin. English-only policies may constitute discrimination based on national origin. There are alternatives to an English-only policy, such as policies pertaining to professional conduct and using team-building activities to improve communication among employees.

  • 47. My Future in Learning I have always believed that learning is a lifelong process. One of the hardest lessons I have had to overcome is the struggles of being a teenage mother. But a school counselor had told me, not to give up and to continue learning through not only my education, but life experiences as well. And I feel that I have done just that. It has been very easy for me to adapt to many types of environments and since I have taken Psychology, I understand it that much more. I have made the commitment to achieve my BA in Psychology for my children and my family. But I will continue into a Masters Program and Doctorate for myself. Along the way, I am also going to learn more about myself and what makes me happy. It was difficult to put myself first at times, because with my four children, husband, 3 dogs, and 1 cat, it gets difficult and overwhelming. This course taught me that time for yourself is also important and I have acquired some hobbies that I will not longer be without. My goal is to travel and learn about other countries and cultures to expand my skills to increase diversity in myself.

  1. Attached is my personal statement and it includes brief statements on my strengths.
  2. On this page, is my resume that a counselor helped me put together back in 2000. I had to update it of course, but I continue using it, because I really respected her.
  3. Being able to have the rubric really made me take a second look at the skills I posses. In the next coming slides, I will outline the strengths and weaknesses in each paper.
  4. In part a I scored as having significant exposure, and scored moderate exposure in part b. Although this was a very short assignment, it was san extensive project for me. The instructor and I talked back and forth because I didn’t understand how to effectively collect the data and come to a conclusion. But I was able to do it. I feel that I should have included additional sources into this assignment.
  5. Research Skills is a total of 3 designs.I was able to demonstrate and summarize the research design. Here I scored as extensive exposure.
  6. Communication Skills is a Power Point Presentation I did, that is a total of 8 slides.I scored an extensive exposure on this one. In my line of work, I do a lot of oral presentations and we actually had taken a course on powerpoints. Now, I am not an expert, but am able to put the main points on the slide so it triggers specific areas of interest that I need to talk about.
  7. Ethics and Diversity is a total of 5 slides.I scored a Moderate in this area, not because of diversity, but because I did not emphasize on the ethical areas and on psychological policies or procedures.
  8. Foundations of psychology is a total of 4 slides. In this area I scored a significant because I was able to apply psychological reasoning and connect it to various case studies.

  10. Interpersonal Effectiveness is a powerpoint presentation that I did and is a total of 4 slides.
