Shopping Center Catuai EMC do Brasil
Londrina, Parana Sao Paulo, BRASIL
Project: 140,000 sq.ft. (14,000 square meter) aluminum roof
The entire roof surface was covered with one-
inch of polyurethane foam. The foam was coated
with a waterproof membrane. Exposure to uv
rays deteriorated the membrane, causing rain to
penetrate and create corrosion on the roof
surface.
Because the center housed more than 200
stores, removing the roof was not an option.
Also, due to some 10,000 holes created by the
corrosion, pressure washing was a problem
since the water could leak: into the shops and
damage the goods.

Two coats of ASTEC B-16-71 resolved the corrosion issue
and two finish coats of ASTEC #IOO-IG stabilized the
tanks exterior surface temperatures and significantly
reduced heat transfer.

15. Hungarian Oil and Gas Company page 2
The tanks were exposed to all four seasons and exhibited
serious corrosion. Furthermore, the tanks absorbed most
of the incident solar radiation and heat penetration,
affecting the interior temperature in the tanks
