2. PTT’s ORIGIN
During November 2005 a group of highly experienced fire protection professionals set up
PREFABRICADOS TECNICOS DE TUBERIA, S.L. Financial backing from several financial
investors from the industry take part in the company’s share capital. The Company’s equity is
set at 1,4 M€. The companies share capital increases to 3,5 M€. Investments achieved by
September 2009 equity reaches 9,5 M€.
The original idea was to cover the need of prefab piping on automatic sprinklers market. In
geographical areas where the fire protection market was already developed, these type of
installations are more frequently produced in external workshops to reduce construction site
works and costs.
PTT’s idea was to considerably improve existing technology (dating back to the 70´s, with poor
flexibility and task integration). To achieve this PTT designed and developed a totally robotic
manufacturing cell, capable of tripling any other existing technology.
PTT´s main offices and workshops are located in Valverde del Majano (Segovia), with a main
warehouse of fittings and other components for the fire protection systems placed in San
Fernando de Henares (Madrid). PTT´s turnover during this financial year will be over 12 M. € .
Production started in Valverde del Majano during mid 2007 PTT.

5. MANUFACTURING PROCEDURE
• The main differential factor in the prefabrication procedure of PTT’s
piping is pipes surface’s preparation by steel shot-blasting at least up to
a cleaning level grade SA 2 ½.
• Once the tube has been shot-blasted, it passes through the robotic cell
which is capable of carrying out every prefabrication process: grooving,
cutting and welding.
• The length of tubes is a main unique characteristic, producing pipe
length up to 9,0 metres.
• Once pipes are produced, the painting procedure commences. Painting
with Polyester dry powder, applied in an electrostatic booth, and oven
polymerized. Standard medium dry layer thickness of 90 m.
• PTT’s main characteristic is workshop capacity: pipe for up to 3.000
sprinklers per day.
• PTT’s production process is thoroughly subject to quality control in
compliance with ISO 9001.2000 standards.
• PTT’s pipes has been certificate with FACTORY MUTUAL (FM).

6. PTT’sPREFABRICATED ADVANTAGES
Automatic Sprinkler Systems are the best and most commonly used fire protection
systems due to their high standard of protection of buildings. One of the main
peculiarities of these systems are the big pipe length needed and repeated structural
modules. This given peculiarity, means that manufacturing such installations in
specialised workshops reduces costs and increases material quality.
Other relevant matters are the following:
The lack of Skilled Personnel. The number of skilled workers and welders
does not increased proportionally as to the number of sprinkler heads
installed in Spain. Skilled personnel and welders works, preferably, on other
sectors; i.e. petro-chemical, gas, power generation plants, etc.
Safety and Environment. For safety reasons welding procedures are
reduced on site as much as possible. Current Legislation, through regulation
EN 12845, point 17.1.3, states that welding on site is limited. Paint
procedures have limitations on constructions sites, not only for safety
purposes but also due to environmental reasons.

7. PTT’s PREFABRICATED PIPING ADVANTAGES
A part from the generic advantages mentioned PTT`s pipe production has the following
unique characteristics which result in other important advantages:
- PTT is the first pipe prefabrication workshop, worldwide, that uses a robotic cell capable of
producing pipes with lengths up to 9,0 metres. Other prefabrication workshops use standard
pipe length of 6,0 metres on his production. 9,0 metres pipe gives the maximum safe length
a counterbalance forklift can lift and reduces substantially pipe scrap.
- Shot-blasting surface preparation up to an SA 2½ grade, assuring the best possible paint
adherence.
- Tube Labelling. Each tube prefabricated by PTT caries an identification tag with the
following traceability information: workshop order, manufacturing order, erection drawing
number, where relevant, areas or installation premises and bar code with quality control
information (pipe manufacturer quality certificate, manufacturing shift, PTT test certificate,
etc).
- Technical Project Assessment. PTT acts as a consultant to every client to optimize projects
to reduce material and erection costs.

8. PTT’s UNIQUE PREFABRICATING SPECIAL CHARACTERISTICS
- Reduction of number of different pipes needed. Standardisation of pipe lengths on site is essential to improve erection and labour rate reductions.
Prefabrication of pipes with lengths of up to 9,0 metres allows production at an adequate length when sprinkler spacing is not 3,0 metres. For example, with a
spacing of 2,6 metres between sprinklers, there are three possible prefabrication procedures:
• Manufacturing pipes 6 metres long, hence all having different lengths. All pipe sections must be identified and exact location when mounting.
• Manufacturing pipes with the same length, 5,2 metres, which will result in a 13% of pipe scap.
PTT would supply identical and symmetrical pipes all manufactured at 7,8 metres, with only 2,56% of pipe scrap.
- Reduction of pipe scrap. As it’s shown on previous paragraph, other pipe prefab workshops have wastage when sprinkler spacing is different than 3,0 metres.
PTT prefab up to 9,0 m reduces pipe scrap. Approximately 50% of the cost of prefabricated pipe corresponds to the cost of the tube.
- Increase Erection Performance. When all pipes are the same length, erection performance
increases substantially, but if pipes are 9,0 metres long, every erection team fits up to 50% more pipes.
- Reduction of Grooved Couplings. Working with 9,0 metres pipes, the number of couplings needed
can be reduced up to 50%.
-Symmetrical Tubes without fixed installation positions. Every PTT prefabricated pipe is exactly
the same, symmetrical and without a exact installation pattern and location; this avoids installation
error and reduces erection costs.

includes the supply of any type of necessary material or equipment for a fire
protection system:
Main Dealership for TYCO Fire & Building Products Equipment. PTT distributes
every accessory, valves, sprinklers, grooved fittings and couplings, etc
manufactured by TYCO, leading fire protection equipment manufacturer.
Main Dealership for GRUPO DE INCENDIOS, S.A. PTT distributes Fire Hydrants,
hoses reels produced by leading Spanish manufacturer GRUINSA.
Distribution of KRAMMER ARMATUREN’s Hydrants. PTT has the exclusive
distribution of the Austrian manufacturer KRAMMER, one of the manufacturers
with greatest quality standards know.
REMS Machinery Distribution. PTT distributes every product manufactured by the
German Manufacturer REMS.
GALGLASS Water Tanks. PTT distributes water tanks manufactured by the United
Kingdom manufacturer GALGLASS.
Other Materials. PTT supplies every client with grooved painted tube, valves, etc,
as to complete and Integral Supply of Works (ISW) required on any possible sight.
By being able to provide an Integrates Supply of Works (ISW) any client will
have the advantage of having one unique material order for all the different
components needed in one sight, hence reducing considerably logistics and
management of such sight.
