Over this week in class, the instructor will teach foreign students who are visually impaired about activities involved with the Fourth of July. The students are all blind and from Russia. The objective is to explain certain details of the day using all other senses to explain things like fireworks. There will also be a Fourth of July party where they will eat traditional American foods. The instructor will use YouTube audio to provide an understanding of traditional music and sounds, and food will be used to give a taste of what is eaten. Random items like confetti will be used to demonstrate what fireworks are like. The students will participate in a celebration and demonstrate their knowledge. The plan effectively hits on all the senses needed when sight is not an option.
