By: Kira Dillon
Analyze the Learners
• There are 20 students that are in 3rd grade.
Out of the 20 students, 11 are girls and 9 are
boys. 75% of the students were born in the
United States, while 25% of the students are
foreign exchange students that were born
outside of the United States.
• Everyone in the class can speak English,
however, English is a second language to all
the foreign exchange students.
State Objectives
• The 20 students in 3rd grade will 90%
accurately know the 5 elements to a story
(Plot, Character, Conflict, Theme, and Setting).
The students will 90% accurately know the 5
elements to a story when asked to write a
story of their own at the end of the lesson.
Students will do this by practicing through
song/video, group activities, and classroom
activities.
Day by Day Breakdown (in general)
• Day 1: Go over setting/plot
• Day 2: Go over characters/conflict
• Day 3: Go over theme; then read a story aloud
to class, having them identify each of the 5
elements of a story while I’m reading it
• Day 4: Group story writing
• Day 5: Have students write a story of their
own that has to include all 5 elements of a
story
Use of Technology

song/video
• Computer to watch above mentioned
