This document outlines a lesson plan for teaching first grade students about the months of the year. The class has 17 students from a variety of ethnic backgrounds, including 7 students with ADHD. The goal is for students to recite and chronologically list the months with 90-100% accuracy by the end of the year. A few key materials will be used, including a dry erase calendar to mark student birthdays each week and a song sung daily to help students learn the order of the months. Students will be assessed in informal ways like writing the date, singing the song, and writing their own birthday on the calendar.
