A- Analyze Learners: This lesson plan is designed for a 1st grade and special ed class. There
are a total of 17 students in the class. There are 10 boys and 7 girls. The races of the
class are 70% white, 20% African American, and 10% Latino. There are 7 students in the
class that have ADHD. Students have difficulty maintaining focus during the class.
Learning styles in this class vary from oral, physical activity, and visual. The students
should be able to name the months of the year.
S- State Objectives: The students should be able to identify the months of the year. Students
should be able to organize the months into the correct order. Students should be able to
describe months of the year. Students will learn the months of the year by singing a song,
looking at a calendar and, playing jump the months. The students should be able to have
100% accuracy in naming the months of the year within a week.
S- Select the 3 M`s: A projector will be used to present the song to learn the months of the
year. With the speakers the students will be able to hear the song. Little individual calendars
will be given to the students so that they can look at the months and the order the months.
The classroom will be used to play the game jump the months.
U- Utilize Media and Material: The teacher will make sure the projector and speakers are
working before class. The teacher will listen and look at the lyrics of the song to determine if
it is school appropriate. The teacher will have the song ready to play. The teacher will have
the calendars and cards for the game ready to go. The seats will be so that the students will be
in a place where they can all hear the song. The teacher will tell the students what activities
they are going to do to learn the months at the beginning of class. The students will first
listen to the song 3 times. After they are listen to the song 3 times the students will be asked
to sing along the 4th time it is played.
R- Require Learner Participation: The students will receive little individual calendars with all
of the months. The teacher will have the students read aloud each month as they go through
the calendar.
E- Evaluate and Revise: The students will play jump the months. They will be broken up into
groups of 4 with one group having 5. The teacher will layout the cards with the months on
them on the floor. The students have to put the months in order. After the students have
correctly put the cards in order the teacher will then say something descriptive about a month
and the students will have to jump to it.
