This document discusses assistive technology and its uses in education for students with special needs. It explains that students struggling in school due to learning disabilities, ADHD, autism or other challenges may qualify for an Individualized Education Program (IEP) and the supports included in an IEP, such as assistive technology. Assistive technology can help students with learning disabilities leverage their strengths and compensate for specific learning problems. While assistive technology cannot cure learning disabilities or guarantee the same benefits for all users, it can minimize how much help students need, improve work speed and accuracy, reinforce classroom instruction, and motivate students to set goals.
