Farmers in India are charged by the government for receiving irrigation water supplied through canals and reservoirs. These charges, known as the assessment of irrigation water, vary between states and may include water rates based on crop type and area, increased land revenue due to benefits, and betterment levies representing the government's share. The rates charged for different crops also differ between states. Farmers are charged to recover project costs, generate state revenue, and cover maintenance costs, as well as to discourage wasteful water use. Methods of assessment include area-based charges, volumetric assessments using water meters, composite land revenue and water taxes, and permanent betterment levies.

Irrigation Efficiency
Water conveyance Efficiency
It takes into account, conveyance or transit losses such as seepage through canal and evaporation through it.
η_c=W_f/W_r ×100
Where, Wf = water delivered to the field
Wr = water delivered from river or stream
Water Application Efficiency
It is the ratio of water stored in root zone to the water delivered to the field.
η_a=W_s/W_f ×100
Where, WS = water weight stored in root zone
WS = Wf – deep percolation – runoff
Wf = water delivered to the field
This efficiency is also called as farm efficiency and it depends on the irrigation technique that has been adopted.
Water use efficiency
It is the ratio of water used beneficially or consumptively to the water delivered to the field.
η_u=W_u/W_f ×100
Where, Wf = water delivered to the field
WU = consumptively used water
Water Storage Efficiency
This is the ratio of actual water stored in the root zone to the water needed to be stored to bring the moisture content upto field capacity.
Water Distribution efficiency
This evaluate the degree to which water is uniformly distributed to the root zone throughout the field area.
η_d=(1-y/d)×100
Where, d = average depth
y = Average numerical deviation in the depth of water stored from the average depth stored during irrigation
Question – the depths of penetration along the length of a border strip at points 30 m apart were proved. There observed values are 2 m, 1.9 m, 1.8 m, 1.6 m and 1.5 m. Compute the water distribution efficiency.
Solution –
Water distribution efficiency,
η_d=(1-y/d)×100
Where, d = average depth
d = (2+1.9+1.8+1.6+1.5)/5=1.76
And y = average numerical deviation
y = 1/5((2-1.76)+(1.9-1.76)+(1.8-1.76)+(1.76-1.6)+(1.76-1.5)=0.168
Therefore,
η_d=(1-0.168/1.76)×100
η_d=90.45%
Consumptive Use Efficiency
It is the ratio of water used consumptively to the net amount of water from the root zone.

Cosmetic shop management system project report.pdfKamal Acharya
Buying new cosmetic products is difficult. It can even be scary for those who have sensitive skin and are prone to skin trouble. The information needed to alleviate this problem is on the back of each product, but it's thought to interpret those ingredient lists unless you have a background in chemistry.
Instead of buying and hoping for the best, we can use data science to help us predict which products may be good fits for us. It includes various function programs to do the above mentioned tasks.
Data file handling has been effectively used in the program.
The automated cosmetic shop management system should deal with the automation of general workflow and administration process of the shop. CFD Simulation of By-pass Flow in a HRSG module by R&R Consult.pptxR&R Consult
CFD analysis is incredibly effective at solving mysteries and improving the performance of complex systems!
Here's a great example: At a large natural gas-fired power plant, where they use waste heat to generate steam and energy, they were puzzled that their boiler wasn't producing as much steam as expected.
R&R and Tetra Engineering Group Inc. were asked to solve the issue with reduced steam production.
An inspection had shown that a significant amount of hot flue gas was bypassing the boiler tubes, where the heat was supposed to be transferred.
R&R Consult conducted a CFD analysis, which revealed that 6.3% of the flue gas was bypassing the boiler tubes without transferring heat. The analysis also showed that the flue gas was instead being directed along the sides of the boiler and between the modules that were supposed to capture the heat. This was the cause of the reduced performance.
Based on our results, Tetra Engineering installed covering plates to reduce the bypass flow. This improved the boiler's performance and increased electricity production.
It is always satisfying when we can help solve complex challenges like this. Do your systems also need a check-up or optimization? Give us a call!
Work done in cooperation with James Malloy and David Moelling from Tetra Engineering.

1. ASSESSMENT OF IRIGATAION WATER:
1. Irrigation water supplie to the farmers through
canals, or reservoirs is at the expense of the
government.
2. Farmers are charge suitably by the
government for having used this facility.
3. The fixation of such charge is known,the
assessment of irrigation water.
2. Irrigation charges are not uniform in all the
states of India.Generally the watler charges
comprises of one or more of following elements
Water rate, depending on kind and extent of crop.
Increment in land revenue, based on increased
benefit derived annually
Providing Irrigation Facilities.
Betterment Levy representing the government
share
The rate at which water is charged for different
crops vary from state to state. Rates are paid
charges on the area basis for different crops.
3. The following are the reasons for which farmers
are charge:-
1.To recover the cost of the project due to which this
facility has been possible.
2.To collect revenue so that it may augment the state
resources.
3.Collect the maintenance cost of the project.
4.T
o put some restrictions on farmers against
careless and uneconomical use of water.
4. METHODS OF ASSESSMENT
1) Assessment on area basis or crop basis:
The factor to be considered is Cash value of crops,
Water requirements of crops that is time and
demand of irrigation water.
Drawbacks of this system are, Wasteful use of water
as the charges are not made on the basis of actual
quantity of water but on the area of crop.
Unequal distribution of water, The irrigation at head
reach of canal draw more Water than due share and
Irrigationd at the tail end of canal suffer.
5. 2) VolumetricAssessment:
Charges are levied on the basis of actual volume Of
water supplied at the outlet head. Most economical
use of water in the field leads to more extent of
irrigation area.
It requires installation of water metres at all Irrigation
outlets in the canal system.
3) Compositerate Assessment:
Combined land revenue and water tax are levied from
the cultivators. It is not much common method of
assessment.
6. 4) Permanent asssessment or Betterment levy:
In area where canals are provided as Insurance against
drought, the farmers are levied at a fixed rate every
year irrespectiveof the fact whether or not they use
the canal water.
In drought year, the farmers are allowed to draw canal
supplies without paying charges on extra to normal
betterment levy.
