August 19, 2010<br />Hello,<br />In an effort to meet the academic needs of your child we gave every child at SciTech an assessment (test) to identify on what grade level your child was performing in English and math. As a result of the assessments all students were placed in literacy groups that match their current proficiency levels. These literacy groups happen for the first 90 minutes of the day. In these blocks students experience smaller class sizes and lessons that are specifically targeted to their strength and need areas. We are extremely excited about this because this provides every student the opportunity to spend an additional 90 minutes developing a key skill required for success in school. As a result, it is EXTREMEMLY important that students are on time to school. Below you will find the assessment results for your child. We are including both their literacy and their math assessment results. If you have not already signed your child up for the extended day program where they can receive intense tutoring as well as enrichment opportunities please do so before you leave tonight. It is the goal of all ReNEW staff members to assist your child in advancing at least 1.5 years this year.
