2) Testing showed that both CD and CCD act as high-efficiency pozzolans, consuming more calcium hydroxide and producing a finer pore structure compared to reference cement pastes.
3) Microstructural analysis found that cement composites with CD and CCD replacements had higher amounts of gel-like hydrate phases, indicating pozzolanic reactions were occurring.
The document proposes a Congestion Control Anonymous Gossip (CCAG) protocol to improve reliable packet delivery in multicast routing protocols for mobile ad-hoc networks (MANETs). The CCAG protocol uses a two phase approach, first using an existing multicast protocol like MAODV to disseminate messages unreliably, then using a gossip protocol in the background to reliably recover any lost messages. The gossip protocol implements anonymous gossip, locality of gossip, cached gossip, and pull-based message exchange to provide reliability while minimizing overhead. Simulation results show the CCAG protocol achieves a 22% improvement in packet delivery ratio over MAODV, while also reducing congestion and variation in packets received by nodes.
This document presents a dual transform method for medical image compression that uses both singular value decomposition (SVD) and Haar wavelet transform. It compares the proposed dual transform method to existing Haar wavelet-SPIHT and DCT-SPIHT compression methods on 3 medical images. The dual transform method achieved higher compression ratios and PSNR values at 0.4 bits per pixel compared to the other methods, indicating better preservation of image quality at higher compression. The dual transform is thus concluded to be suitable for compressing medical images where no deterioration of image quality is acceptable.

A novel way of verifiable redistribution of the secret in a multiuser environ...eSAT Publishing House
This document proposes a novel method for verifiably redistributing secrets in a multi-user environment using threshold secret sharing and group keys. It involves a dealer distributing shares of a secret to authorized users, and a group manager who verifies members and notifies the dealer of any changes. If the group changes, the dealer generates new shares without involving old members, encrypts them using group members' public keys, and sends them to the group manager. The manager distributes the shares to the group using a group key. Members can verify their shares against hash values from the dealer. This allows secret redistribution without private channels or involvement of old members in generating new shares.

Pollution Due To Noise from Selected PlacesIOSR Journals
Noise pollution degrades environment and also causes health hazard to human beings. In urban areas major sources of noise pollution are traffic and construction activities. Available guide lines for noise pollution have been reviewed in the paper. Measurement of noise levels at selected locations reported in the paper, for example, railway stations, use of machinery at construction sites, etc., was made and compared with the guide line values. It has been observed that the noise level at all locations exceeds the value prescribed by the competent authorities. At the pedestrian locations the noise level is 60 dB to 110 dB. At the railway crossing the noise level is 45 dB to 110 dB. The above inference shows that the noise pollution is paramount at all sources. Due to the various adverse impacts of noise on humans and environment, noise should be controlled. The conclusion drawn from this study is that the technique or the combination of techniques to be employed for noise control depends upon the extent of the noise reduction required, nature of the equipment used and the economy aspects of the available techniques
The document analyzes noise pollution around Sam Ratulangi International Airport in Manado, Indonesia. Noise levels were measured at four locations - the airport apron and three nearby villages. All locations exceeded noise threshold standards. A survey found noise exposure impacted residents' health, causing insomnia, hearing loss, and other issues. The study recommends strategies to restrain noise at its source, during transmission, and on humans to mitigate these impacts.
The purpose of this study is to measure and evaluate noise levels arising from operation of Sam Ratulangi International Airport of Manado to the surrounding environment, then proceed to make the imp ct restraint strategies. Environmental noise measurement method is done in accordance with the Regulation of the Environment State Minister of the Republic of Indonesia No. 48/1996 on Noise Level Treshold. Environmental noise pollution from road transport and other sources in varna,...eSAT Journals
Abstract The present research has been conducted in Varna – the third biggest city in Bulgaria in order to assess the environmental noise pollution from road transport and other sources. Noise monitoring has been done during the period 2007-2014 at 45 monitoring posts situated at: areas with intensive road traffic; areas with railroad traffic; areas with aviation noise; areas with marine traffic; industrial areas; built-up areas; recreation areas; hospitals and sanatoria; scientific research sites; quiet areas in open country. The noise pollution has been assessed through the daily equivalent sound levels LeqD in the environment that determine the degree of discomfort during daytime (07.00 – 19.00). Research results have been statistically interpreted by variation analysis and the differences have been estimated by Student-Fischer t-criteria. The dominant source of environmental noise pollution in Varna is road traffic. Sound levels at monitoring posts with intensive road traffic are considerably higher than the established limit value – LeqD vary between 69.28 and 71.72 dB(A) and exceed the limit value with 10-12 dB(A). At recreation areas the average LeqD exceed the limit value during the entire monitoring period. More intensive noise pollution has been observed from 2010 onwards as the increase is statistically reliable and the differences are of strong statistical significance (0.001 ≤ Р ≤ 0.05). At built-up areas the average LeqD are close to the limit value and a statistically reliable increase has been registered from 2010 onwards (P < 0.001). Different types of measures are discussed to reduce noise pollution mostly from road transport. Key Words: daily equivalent sound level, environmental noise pollution, noise sources, road traffic

Assessment of noise pollution in chidambaram towneSAT Journals
Abstract Noise generally is known as unwanted and unwelcome sound. It is considered as the most pervasive pollutant besides the emission pollutants. Along with the increasing degree of air and water pollution, noise pollution is also emerging as a new threat to the inhabitants of Chidambaram town. Noise pollution generated from vehicles with its influence on life quality and the environment may be considered as a hot topic in scientific research and one of the main concerns of the world, especially in urban areas. Motorized traffic is one of the major sources of noise pollution in urban areas. Ambient noise level monitoring was carried out at various locations of the Chidambaram town during 2011(September –November). The data obtained was used to compute various noise parameters, namely equivalent continuous level (Leq), Noise pollution level (Lnp), Noise climate (NC), Percentile noise levels (L10, L50, L90).The comparison of the data shows that the noise levels at various locations of the Chidambaram town are more than the permissible limits. Vehicular traffic and air horns are found to be the main reasons for these high noise levels. This study examines the problems of reduction of individual's efficiency in his/her respective working places because of road traffic noise pollution in Chidambaram due to rapidly growing vehicular traffic. This paper deals with monitoring of the disturbances caused due to vehicular road traffic interrupted by traffic flow conditions on personal work performance. Traffic volume count and noise indices data were collected simultaneously at ten selected sites of the town. The noise level values for exceeded the standards set by the central pollution control board. Index Terms: Ambient noise, level, Noise pollution, Noise climate, dB (A) decibel, Vehicular traffic.

Groundwater investigation using geophysical methods a case study of pydibhim...eSAT Publishing House
This document summarizes the results of a geophysical investigation using vertical electrical sounding (VES) methods at 13 locations around an industrial area in India. The VES data was interpreted to generate geo-electric sections and pseudo-sections showing subsurface resistivity variations. Three main layers were typically identified - a high resistivity topsoil, a weathered middle layer, and a basement rock. Pseudo-sections revealed relatively more weathered areas in the northwest and southwest. Resistivity sections helped identify zones of possible high groundwater potential based on low resistivity anomalies sandwiched between more resistive layers. The study concluded the electrical resistivity method was useful for understanding subsurface geology and identifying areas prospective for groundwater exploration.

Can fracture mechanics predict damage due disaster of structureseSAT Publishing House
This document discusses how fracture mechanics can be used to better predict damage and failure of structures. It notes that current design codes are based on small-scale laboratory tests and do not account for size effects, which can lead to more brittle failures in larger structures. The document outlines how fracture mechanics considers factors like size effect, ductility, and minimum reinforcement that influence the strength and failure behavior of structures. It provides examples of how fracture mechanics has been applied to problems like evaluating shear strength in deep beams and investigating a failure of an oil platform structure. The document argues that fracture mechanics provides a more scientific basis for structural design compared to existing empirical code provisions.

The aquaponic system of planting is a method that does not require soil usage. It is a method that only needs water, fish, lava rocks (a substitute for soil), and plants. Aquaponic systems are sustainable and environmentally friendly. Its use not only helps to plant in small spaces but also helps reduce artificial chemical use and minimizes excess water use, as aquaponics consumes 90% less water than soil-based gardening. The study applied a descriptive and experimental design to assess and compare conventional and reconstructed aquaponic methods for reproducing tomatoes. The researchers created an observation checklist to determine the significant factors of the study. The study aims to determine the significant difference between traditional aquaponics and reconstructed aquaponics systems propagating tomatoes in terms of height, weight, girth, and number of fruits. The reconstructed aquaponics system’s higher growth yield results in a much more nourished crop than the traditional aquaponics system. It is superior in its number of fruits, height, weight, and girth measurement. Moreover, the reconstructed aquaponics system is proven to eliminate all the hindrances present in the traditional aquaponics system, which are overcrowding of fish, algae growth, pest problems, contaminated water, and dead fish.

Abstract
In scientific terms, noise (or sound) is a pressure oscillation in the air or water or any medium which conducts and travels (radiates)
from the source. Due to increasing motorization, construction of roads, airports, flyovers and the growth in transport network, the
noise level has exceeded the prescribed limit in many Indian cities. The main purpose of this study is to assess the impact and effect of
noise emitted by vehicular traffic on the various links in the surrounding areas of an upcoming international airport at Navi-Mumbai
,India. This study presents on site noise level measurement at 10 locations situated at a distance of 10 Km. radius from the Airport
reference Point (ARP) and also on the various links around the airport. Noise monitoring was carried out at all locations for 24
Hours (Leq) in residential, commercial, Industrial and silence zone located in the surrounding areas of Navi Mumbai (India) airport
during November-February, 2009. FHWA model has been used for the prediction of noise level. The results show that noise pollution
on various links are higher than the prescribed limits given by CPCB.

INTRODUCTION
Noise can be defined as an unwanted sound (Canter,
1996).Noise is one of the principle externalities of
transportation specially air and road transportation and it
mostly goes unpriced (Thangadurai et al, 2005) .The noise
pollution produced by aircrafts during operations around
airports represents serious social, ecological, technical and
economic problem. The ability to assess and predict noise
exposure accurately is an increasingly important factor in the
design and implementation of any airport improvements.
Aircrafts are complex noise sources. The number and intensity
of noise sources vary with type of aircraft and, in particular,
with the type of engines incorporated in their power plants.
Relationship between the acoustic characteristics of the main
noise sources and the flight mode parameters (or engine mode
parameters) must be known for the best evaluation of noise
levels under the flight path for any type of aircraft at any stage
of its flight.
It has been estimated that around 20 percent of the European
population from the noise level that are considered
unacceptable (Nijland et. al. 2003).Environmental noise
pollution has not been an entirely new phenomenon, but has
been a problem that has grown steadily worse with time (Garg
et al, 2007). Noise perceived as an environmental stressor and
nuisance. Increasing noise level exposure is today a serious
problem for most cities and high focus is put into monitoring
and calculating actual noise exposure to understand the size of
the actual problem (Bugliarello et al, 1976).
Noise is a prominent feature of the environment including
noise from transport, aircrafts, industry and neighbors.
Transport noise is an increasingly prominent feature of the
urban environment making noise pollution an important
environmental public health issue (Berglund and Lindvall,
1995).Noise pollution in urban cities is steadily increasing
over the years (Ising and Krupa, 2004).This has direct and
indirect impact to the people that can lead to the health hazard
(Kryter, 1985).Some of the major health hazards cause by the
noise are permanent hearing loss and psychological disorder
(WHO, 1980).Other health problem may be high blood
pressure, muscle tension, headache, migraine, irritability
insomnia, (Haines et al, 2003) .In India there were very few
researchers on noise pollution being carried out. Even such
surveys conducted in the past have revealed that noise level in
urba areas are generally higher than the prescribed limit given
by CPCB (Vidyasagar and Rao, 2006).
TRAFFIC NOISE INDEX
The major contribution to noise in the study area comes from
vehicular traffic. Therefore, noise data is also used for finding
Traffic Noise index (TNI). TNI is the A weighted sound level

sampled at numerous discrete intervals over 24 hours study
period. TNI is a weighted combination of L10 and L90. It
describes the noise level and fluctuant characteristic. It has
good relativity with subjective response of public and can be
used to evaluate disturbance of a mass of traffic volume to
public. Value of 74 dB (A) is defined as threshold limit for
outdoor noise level. TNI was calculated for daytime and
nighttime period using the equation as given below.
TN = 4 (L10-L90) + L90-30 --- (

AVERAGE NOISE LEVEL MATERIAL AND
METHODS
Different receptor environment were monitored during
daytime and night time and Leq values of each station
have been calculated separately using the above equation
for Leq. Average noise level of the project area during day
time was calculated using the Equation as given below.
LeqPa(D) = 10 log (10Leq I(D)/10+ 10LeqC(D)/10+
10LeqR(D)/10 +10LeqS(D)/10) ----------(2)
----(2)
where, LeqPa (D) is equivalent continuous sound level
(average) during nighttime in the project area.
LeqI(D), LeqC(D), LeqR(D) and LeqS(D) are equivalent
continuous sound level during daytime in industrial,
commercial, residential and sensitive areas respectively
Similarly, average noise level of the project area during
nighttime is also calculated .
STUDY AREA
The site of Navi Mumbai (India) airport is selected near
Panvel town in an area admeasuring 2347 acres of land which
is situated about 45 km away from the CBD of
Mumbai/Santacruz airport. The airport is planned with two
runways of 3700 M with parallel taxiways designed to suit the
new generation large aircraft. The other facilities include the
domestic terminal, international terminal, cargo terminal,
airfield lighting, city side facilities etc. The phase wise
development approach has been adopted to suit the air travel
demand.
The study area shown in Figure 1.0 covers the area around the
airport falling within the radius of 10 km. The study area is
further divided in two parts namely core area and fringe area.
The core area covers the area within the radius of 10 km, in
which all the scooped environmental parameters have been
studied to understand the magnitude of impact. In the
remaining area i.e. fringe area places of historical importance,
aesthetics, cultural including environmentally sensitive have
been studied

SELECTION OF MONITORING STATIONS AND
NOISE LEVEL MEASUREMENT
Noise quality monitoring stations were selected based on
different noise generating sources and type of receptor
environment in the project area. The list of sites selected for
noise monitoring in the project area is given in Table 2. The
noise equivalent level (Leq) was measured continuously at
each monitoring sites using sound level meter Model (
LUTREN, SL-4001). The sound level meter was placed 1.2
to 1.5m above ground level and at least 3m away from sound
reflecting sources like walls etc. in the outdoor environment.

NOISE MODELING
Noise modeling for vehicular traffic
The impact on noise level due to project on communities in the
adjoining area has been studied by Highway Noise Model
(FHWA Model) developed by the United States of America,
department of Transportation engineering. In the present study
noise prediction model calculates noise level through a series of
adjustments to a reference sound level. The reference sound
level is the energy mean emission level which is determined

through the field measurements. Traffic noise prediction
algorithm is of the following form. The value Leq is determined
from the following equation
Leq= L0 + Li (3)
L0 =Basic noise level for a particular stream of
vehicles in dBA
Li =Adjustment applied in dBA
In the present study the various adjustments applied are volume
and speed, distance and ground cover.
The combined effect of all categories of vehicle at the receptor
has been determined by adding the individual values using the
following equation
Leq (h, total) = 10 Log i
n
10 * * (Leq(hi)/10) --(4)
Input to the Model
(A) Reference Noise
Generation of noise significantly vary with vehicle speed. It is
therefore necessary that speed dependency of noise emissions
for various categories of vehicles is taken into account while
using the model for noise prediction due to roadways. In this
work, the speed wise relations presented by National
Environmental Engineering Research Institute, (NEERI) India
in their report on Environmental and Social Assessment for
New Delhi, have been adopted. These are given in Table 4.0 an

(B) Traffic Volume
Traffic volume count on different links ( NH-4, SH-4, Sion-Panvel Highway, Mumbai-Pune Expressway and Amra Marg) around the
airport were carried out manually. Traffic volume forecasting was done according to growth rate of different links. Considering the total
project period, the noise levels have been predicted during 2010, 2015, 2020, and 2025 and at the end of the project i.e. 2030. Data were
organized according to model requirement.

CONCLUSION
Predicted noise level along the roadside of the
various links varies between 74.83 and 90.01 dB
which is more than the permissible limit given by the
Central Pollution Control Board.
Due to airport, increment in the noise level varies
between 0.2 dB to 2 dB which is insignificant as
compare to existing levels of noise.
It is observed that operation of the airport is not
likely to alter significantly the existing noise level.
Noise level due to the vehicles required for servicing
the aircraft and operation inside the airport is
significantly less.
Overall, airport is not going to bring out significant
change in the noise quality except at few places on
the links around the airport.
